Jubilant Morocco fans shut down a street in New York to celebrate World Cup win over Portugal

Morocco fans in New York took to the street to celebrate their upset of Portugal Saturday, as the team eked out a 1-0 victory.

The Atlas Lions struck in the 42nd minute via a Youssef En-Nesyri header and were able to hold on to their lead despite a late red card to Walid Cheddira.

And fans of the team in the Big Apple were ecstatic with the result, lighting flares and celebrating in the streets after the match.

Fans took to the streets in Queens to celebrate the surprising win over Portugal

The supporters sung songs as well as they commemorated the improbable win in the Astoria, Queens section of the city.

Morocco were outshot 12-9 and significantly out-possessed, as Portugal had the ball 74 percent of the time.

But Fernando Santos’ side were unable to equalize the match as Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe failed to convert late chances.

Morocco’s run will continue in the semifinals vs. either France or England.

They stunned Spain on penalties in the Round of 16 to reach the Portugal game.

Morocco became the first-ever African side to reach the semifinals of the World Cup with their win Saturday.
