The heartbroken fiancée of a journalist who was shot dead while broadcasting is fundraising to have his baby via IVF after she ordered doctors to harvest his sperm on the night he died.

Casey Fite had been planning to have a family with Dylan Lyons, 24, before he was killed during a broadcast for Spectrum News 13 in Florida on February 22.

In a GoFundMe page, she revealed doctors had successfully managed to retrieve eight vials of sperm from him on the night he died, upon her request.

She is now fundraising $50,000 so she can have IVF to implant the sperm and keep ‘Dylan’s legacy alive.’

Lyons made headlines after he was one of three people – including a nine-year-old girl and her mother – to be gunned down while broadcasting about a homicide which had happened in the area five hours earlier.

Career criminal Keith Melvin Moses, 19, was arrested in connection with the killings which police believe are linked.

Writing on GoFundMe, Casey said she had met Lyons in 2020 and labelled him the ‘love of my life.’

‘From the moment I met Dylan I knew he was someone special and was the most handsome man I ever saw,’ she said.

‘Dylan and I began dating in November 2021, and we had our entire lives planned…he did everything for me…

‘Dylan was a vegan but he would still take me out to restaurants I liked just because he wanted to make me happy…that’s the type of man my Dylan was.’

She later added: ‘Dylan and I wanted nothing more than to get married and have children…the night he passed away.

‘I researched about harvesting his sperm. I called doctor after doctor until I found one who was able to perform the procedure within the 24-hour period.

‘The doctor was able to retrieve 8 vials of his sperm, and I am going to do IVF to have the baby we so desperately wanted to have together.

‘I am devastated he can’t be here for what we always wanted…Dylan would have been the best dad in the world…any contribution would be appreciated so we can still have our baby as I want to keep my Dylan’s legacy alive.’

On Thursday night the page had already raised $1,040.

Lyons was tragically gunned down while on the scene in Pine Hills, near Orlando, to report on the murder of Nathacha Augustin, a 38-year-old woman who was killed in a car hours earlier.

However, after arriving at the murder scene, the suspect returned and started firing again – gunning down the news reporter and injuring his photographer.

Police were then called to a third shooting nearby – where a mother and her nine-year-old daughter had been targeted in a residential house.

The child later died, and the mom is understood to still be in critical condition.

Suspect Keith Melvin Moses was pictured sneering and smiling as he was handcuffed in relation to the shootings.

Moses is understood to have known the first victim though his motives for the later killings are unclear.

Lyons, who hails from Philadelphia, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Central Florida in 2020.

He received his Master’s in Criminal Justice a year later.

The ambitious reporter was known for being ‘a voice for the voiceless’ and reported on a plethora of stories in his community – including crime, politics, and social issues.

Last year, he wrote on Twitter: ‘November 7th, 2021 changed my life forever! It is the day you became my girlfriend! That was one of the easiest decisions of my life! You’re a remarkable, beautiful, kind, loving, and caring girl Case! I love you so much!’
