Adele’s breathtaking first performance in her Weekends with Adele residency comes after she shared just how ‘nervous’ and ‘excited’ she was to finally be performing the shows after postponing them for eleven months.

On Thursday night, the eve of her residency debut — which runs from November 18 through March 25, 2023 — she shared a fun snap that appeared to have been taken at one of her rehearsals for the series.

‘I’m feeling all sorts as I write this,’ she began, admitting that she was feeling ‘highly emotional’ and ‘incredibly nervous,’ but also ‘so excited.’

‘I feel a million miles away from home, I can’t stop thinking about when I was little and saw Tom Jones in Mars Attacks and thought blimey how did he get from Wales to Las Vegas!?’ she continued, referencing Tim Burton’s cult science fiction comedy.

‘I always get scared before shows, and I take it as a good sign because it means I care and means I just want to do a good job. Maybe it’s because I didn’t start when I was supposed to,’ she continued, alluding to her tearful video announcing that the shows had been canceled just 24 hours before the first date.

‘Maybe it’s because it’s opening night, maybe it’s because Hyde Park went so great, maybe its because I love the show I don’t know,’ she added. ‘But it’s safe to say I’ve never been more nervous before a show in my career, but at the same time I wish today was tomorrow! I can’t wait to see you out there x.’

The songstress (born Adele Adkins) stood in a red-carpeted aisle that appeared to be in the middle of the venue’s floor section, with banks of seats surrounding her on all sides.

Teasing a glimpse of the run-though of her show she had massive family photos of children and a baby blown up on a screen behind her over the stage.

The hitmaker’s fans have patiently waited since January for a redo after her eleventh-hour cancellation.

Adele’s initial video revealing that the show would not proceed led to pandemonium for fans who had already traveled to Vegas for the initial shows just before the last-minute announcement.

Making matters worse was the initial lack of new dates.

Although she claimed in her tearful video that many of the people on her team had contracted Covid-19, which slowed down preparations at the worst possible time, subsequent reporting indicated that the hitmaker wasn’t happy with the stage show.

Several sources claimed that the British star had issues with the set design, and they singled out an on-stage pool that she was set to sing over during one of the numbers.

‘When she saw the finished design, she refused to take part,’ an insider told The Sun. ‘Adele described the pool as a ”baggy old pond” and refused, point blank, to stand in the middle of it.

‘The intention was to fill it with water on the set as she was lifted up on a crane-type mechanism, creating the illusion she was floating on water.’

‘There was just no soul in it,’ she admitted to Elle in August. ‘The stage setup wasn’t right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment.’

Although she was initially ’embarrassed’ after the failure, she eventually found a way to be ‘proud’ of herself for standing up for the best possible show.

‘The first couple of months was really, really hard,’ she said. ‘I was embarrassed. But it actually made my confidence in myself grow, because it was a very brave thing to do. And I don’t think many people would have done what I did. I’m very proud of myself for standing by my artistic needs.’

The shows were originally set for The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Vegas, but after the postpone, it was rumored that Adele (full name: Adele Adkins) might try to move the show to a larger venue, though one still owned by Caesars.

However, it was revealed to be staying put when the final dates were announced.

Even before her tear-streaked announcement that the shows were temporarily off, Adele fans were furious after presale tickets sold through Ticketmaster sold out within minutes. Resale market options were out of the question for many fans, as the ticket prices were inflated to between $1,000 and $37,000 dollars

The original tickets sold for as little as little as $85 dollars before the numerous fees were added.

On Friday, the New York Times reported that the Justice Department had opened an antitrust investigation into Ticketmaster’s parent company Live Nation, which predated Ticketmaster’s chaotic cancellation of a public ticket sale for Taylor Swift concerts.

The highly anticipated show drew a star-studded crowd of fans, including Tom Cruise, Stranger Things star Milly Bobby Brown, Cameron Diaz, James Corden and Niall Horan.

‘My god, I’m back at home,’ she declared triumphantly just three songs into her set.

Despite the popularity of her latest album 30, she appeared to have performed only a handful of songs from that record, instead favoring many of her older classics.

She also allayed any fears about vocal issues that have plagued her in recent years, though she did keep a hot drink on hand to help soothe her throat.

The singer’s initial vocal issues led her to muse in an Instagram post from 2017 that she might never tour again.

Some fans were disappointed at the time that she didn’t announce her new residency dates during the comeback performance, though the announced followed shortly after the shows.

Adele’s 11th-hour Las Vegas residency cancellation explained

The new residency Weekends with Adele was set to begin in January at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

But Adele announced in a tearful video on January 20, just one day before the first performance, that she was postponing all of the shows.

She claimed in the emotional clip that half her team has Covid and they ‘ran out of time’ for the show to be ready.

The 24-night run, which was estimated to earn her $685,000 per show, a Vegas record.

Avisibly upset Adele said in her strong London accent: ‘I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready,’ adding that they ‘ran out of time.’

She went on: ‘We’ve tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID. Half my crew and team are [ill] with Covid and still are, and it’s been impossible to finish the show.

‘I’m gutted — I’m sorry it’s so last minute, we’ve been awake for over 30 hours trying to figure it out and we’ve run out of time,’ she continued, as her voice started to break. ‘I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and so sorry to everyone that traveled to get [to the show]. I’m really, really sorry.’

Fans were furious, as many had already traveled to Las Vegas, with some having spent as much as $9,000 on tickets.

Adele told the BBC that she was a ‘shell of a person for a couple of months’ after the cancellation.

‘I definitely felt everyone’s disappointment and I was devastated, and I was frightened about letting them down. I’d thought I could pull it together and make it work and I couldn’t. I stand by that decision,’ she explained. ‘I’m not going to just do a show because I have to or because people are going to be let down or because we’re going to lose loads of money.’
