‘He speaks better English than our President!’ Zelensky is praised for hard-hitting Congress speech as he roused politicians to back war effort since it’s a ‘global security investment’
- Twitter users commended the speech Zelesnky gave to Congress on Wednesday
- Some people suggested his English was better than that of President Biden
- His military garb was also compared to the casual attire of John Fetterman
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky‘s address to Congress on Wednesday was well received by Americans on social media, many of whom commented on how well he spoke English.
Some also compared the non-native English speaker’s delivery with that of their own president, Joe Biden.
Podcast host Gerry Callahan wrote: ‘He speaks better English than our President. And Our Vice President. And our Speaker of the House,’ attacking the oratory skills of Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi too.

Callahan also took aim at Pennsylvania’s senator-elect John Fetterman, suggesting that Zelensky’s military-inspired khaki garb was superior to Fetterman’s famously relaxed work attire.
Earlier this month Fetterman’s own wife mocked The New York Times’ decision to list Fetterman as one of the most stylish people of 2022, calling for a ‘recount.’
On Tucker Carlson’s show on Wednesday evening he said Zelenksy’s wartime outfit made him look like the ‘manager of a strip club demanding money.‘

CNN’s Global Affairs analyst also commended the speech and considered how Zelenksy’s visit to Washington might have appeared to Putin.
She said: ‘No doubt this speech, this venue, this bipartisan applause, all get under Putin’s skin. The chef’s kiss? That Zelensky is delivering it masterfully in English.’
Kyle Poen, Regional Coordinator of Students for Life, made a similar remark: ‘Zelensky, with English being far from his primary language, is a better speaker than Biden.’
Dillon Thomas, a CBS journalist, said: ‘I know Americans who get paid to speak English on TV every day and still have difficulties.’
