MasterChef star hit with legal letter from Elle MacPherson’s supplement brand WelleCo after he replicated her products for a bargain price

Former MasterChef star Jimmy Seervai has revealed that he has been issued a legal letter from Elle Macpherson’s WelleCo.

The chef, who has reinvented himself as a successful nutritional supplements manufacturer, said Macpherson is upset after he began selling replicate version of her supplement products at a bargain price.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Macpherson claims her famed ‘beauty wellness’ line has the ability to ‘liberate’ customers ‘to live the life they’ve longed for’.

However, Seervai believes the brand ‘mostly liberates its customers from their hard-earned cash’.

Seervai, who founded and operates the supplements business Life Botanics out of Nowra, has been drowning in litigation threats since he launched his thriving company in March.

In September, he received a cease and desist letter from lawyers demanding he stop producing a supplement identical to Macpherson’s Super Elixir and Greens Elixir that retails for about $24.95, a fraction of WelleCo’s $88.

Seervai maintains that all main players in the supplements sector like WelleCo, Swisse and Natures Way, all outsource the production of their products to manufacturers like him.

He told the publication that he’d made products for all four of these brands – all of whom were compelled to post their ingredients online, meaning there is full transparency in the sector.

‘They all believe that with these products they’ve invented something on par with the Covid vaccine,’ Seervai said.

‘They haven’t. They’re replicating what everyone is doing, but just putting a different spin on it.’

Jimmy rose to fame back in 2010 when he appeared as a contestant on MasterChef.

He is now the father of five and is one of the key players in the supplement range in Australia.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to both parties for comment.
