A deeply religious couple have been charged with the alleged torture and murder of a baby boy in one of the ‘most confronting’ scenes detectives have ever witnessed.

The seven-month-old’s father, Reinhardt Bosch, 33, and his partner Noemi Kondacs, 22, were charged on Thursday evening after police were called to their Mount Samson Road home in Yugar, in northwest Brisbane, at about 6.45am.

Queensland Police will allege baby Rhuan’s horrific injuries were caused by Mr Bosch one day before officers attended the semi-rural property – with the couple accused of spending up to 24 hours praying for his recovery before calling an ambulance.

‘From what I’ve seen, the child was not neglected in terms of nourishment and such, but it’s quite confronting,’ Queensland Police Detective Inspector David Jackman said.

‘It certainly hits home. I have been a detective for 30-odd years, and it is one of the most confronting scenes I’ve seen.

‘The child was found in the house, but where in the house, I’m not at liberty to say.’

Investigators are also looking into how long the boy was dead before Bosch called for an ambulance, with the baby allegedly deceased as early as Wednesday morning.

Bosch and his partner, understood to originally be from South Africa, spent the day being questioned at Ferny Grove police station before they were both charged with one count of murder and torture.

The pair will appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.

Detective Inspector David Jackman said the scene was ‘one of the most confronting’ he has seen in his 30 years in the job

On Bosch’s Twitter – which has since been removed – his bio quotes the verse of Romans 8.28: ‘And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purposes.’

Detectives are going back through the family’s history, and speaking with family members as part of their investigation but so far police ‘door knocks’ have not uncovered anything untoward.

Nearby neighbours told the Courier Mail they had never spoken to the family.

‘They kept to themselves ever since they moved into the property about a year ago,’ one said.

Another neighbour revealed ‘The woman was noticeably pregnant when they moved in,’ she said.

Queensland Police has established Operation Uniform Salwood to investigate the death.

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact contact police immediately.
