Danny Wallis spends up big on The Block every year. 

But the Melbourne-based IT entrepreneur is a philanthropist who gives away many of the homes he buys to children’s cancer charities. 

Wallis has donated multiple homes to the My Room Children’s Cancer Charity and Ronald McDonald House for use by terminally ill children and their families.

This year, he also plans to keep one of the houses for himself. 

‘This year, I’ll be keeping one for myself to grow vegetables and grow fruit trees in the backyard, and a little holiday… and one home will be a resort for kids,’ Danny told 3AW on Monday.

‘I like House 5 the best, but it’s probably the best one for kids, it’s got the basketball court and tennis court.’

This season, he bought Oz and Omar’s House 5 for $5.66million, as well as snapping up Tom and Sarah-Jane’s house for more than $4.1million. 

He also purchased Rachel and Ryan’s for over $4.2millon – making his total for the three homes around $14million. 

Last season, he bought Mitch and Mark’s Block-winning home for $3.93 million and it was also donated to the My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.

He also bought Tanya and Vito’s house, and Kirsty and Jesse’s, coming in at $12.2 million all together.  

Danny additionally loaned out Tanya and Vito’s house, for which he paid $3.8 million, to Ronald McDonald House before it was resold.

He did the same for one of the properties he purchased during the 2016 season.

During the 2020 series, Danny also spent big and bought three apartments for just under $12m.

That year, Daniel and Jade’s property – which he paid $3.8 million for – to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.

‘It is made extra special for me because I know Daniel and Jade have been through so much with their daughter Isla over the years [who has a rare chromosome disorder], in and out of hospital, and they will understand just how important the house will be for My Room and all the incredible work they do for sick children and their families.’

Dubbed the show’s ‘eccentric buyer,’ Danny thinks nothing of dropping tens of millions on property. 

The eccentric rich lister has a reported net worth of over $120million, giving him plenty of spare change when it comes to snapping up property. 

Wallis sold his IT service management company DWS in September 2020 to an Indian tech giant for $126million.
