‘I have been given flowers a couple of times, by women and on every single occasion, I’ve thought to myself, this woman is unhinged. Completely unhinged,’ he told his co-hosts MG and Cat Lynch.

‘And you know what? Nine times out of 10, which is actually two out of two, I was right.’

According to Interflora, Australia’s largest florist, men are now being delivered flowers 10 per cent more in an average year, and 20 per cent more on Valentine’s Day.

‘We have certainly seen a societal shift around the classic Valentine’s Day traditions,’ Marketing Manager of Interflora Australia Alara Karayalcin said in a statement.

‘The expectations around Valentine’s Day have changed, putting men and women on a more level playing field.’

‘Our data has found the amount of men receiving flowers on Valentine’s Day has increased to 20 per cent, as the emotional and sentimental meaning behind flowers across both genders proves to have strengthened.

‘We have seen first-hand that men are enjoying flowers as gifts, because the entire flower delivery experience makes them feel special and loved.’

While many equate Valentine’s day with red roses, men and women this year have reportedly been given a much wider range of flowers.
