Ben Feigin, who served as executive producer on the hit sitcom Schitt’s Creek, passed away Monday at the age of 47. 

The Emmy Award winner died of complications due to pancreatic cancer, Deadline reported. He was instrumental in helping the show get made. 

The outlet also reported he was the mastermind behind a number of the show’s fascinating marketing strategies. 

It was reportedly Feigin’s idea to take the show on an international tour with LiveNation, and he helped get the Netflix documentary Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt’s Creek Farewell.

He even worked to turn a town in New York into a permanent Schitt’s Creek. 

Feigin was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, and attended the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Feigin also reunited Cheech and Chong in the film Cheech & Chong: Hey Watch This. 

 He is survived by his wife, Heidi, and 11-year-old daughter, Ellie.

The seminal, late 2010s sitcom centered around a family which becomes the victim of fraud and goes from ‘extremely wealthy to penniless overnight. The only asset left to them is a small, unsophisticated town: Schitt’s Creek.
