Robbie Coltrane’s son showed he shares his father’s sense of humour with a jokey tribute reading: ‘Just woke up what did I miss?’, while the actor’s daughter posted a tender picture. 

Robbie, who played Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter series, passed away yesterday aged 72 following a long health battle. 

His children have responded to their fathers death online with two very different posts.

Spencer, who is an urban artist, has recently been working in New York and had been offline over the last few days after posting up a picture of a man in bed saying goodnight.

However he surfaced in the early hours of this morning to write: ‘Just woke up. What did I miss?’

He accompanied his question with a picture of what appeared to be the three Kennedy brothers.

It appears he shared the same sense of dry humour as his father.

Alice is the youngest child of Robbie and his ex-wife Rhona Gemmell. She is best known for her roles in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (2021), Roadkill (2020), and The Souvenir (2019).

Her older brother Spencer, born in 1992, has generally kept his life private. 

Robbie Coltrane, whose real name is Anthony Robert McMillan, was best known for playing the beloved Hogwarts gamekeeper Hagrid and starring as criminal psychologist Dr Eddie ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald in the 90s ITV drama Cracker.

His career also saw him star alongside comedy and acting legends including Julie Walters, Ben Elton, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Emma Thompson and Siobhan Redmond.  

Coltrane’s agent Belinda Wright described him as a ‘unique talent’ and said the star died on Friday. She added: ‘Please respect Robbie’s family’s privacy at this distressing time.’

The 72-year-old was rumoured to have had serious health issues earlier this year after he was forced to pull out of London’s Comic Con in June due to medical reasons.
