Passengers on a Virgin flight are shocked to see ‘humble’ superstar Ed Sheeran flying commercial on his sold-out Australian tour
Passengers on a Virgin Australia flight from Ballina to Sydney were surprised to see superstar musician Ed Sheeran flying commercial this week.
The singer, 32, who is in Australia for his Mathematics Tour, kept a low profile as he caught the flight ahead of his sold-out concerts this weekend at Accor Stadium.
Fans praised the Shape of You hit-maker for being ‘humble’ and ‘down-to-earth’ by flying commercial instead of via private jet, like most international acts do.
‘He’s just a down-to-earth bloke,’ one person commented on Instagram.
‘The nice thing is, he took a commercial flight and not a private jet. Pretty humble,’ added another.

‘I think we need to normalise this and accept celebrities using commercial flights just like us. This way we can help our environment,’ one fan said.Â
‘Can’t the man go on a plane without being posted? Damn,’ another said.Â
Ed has just finished three shows in Brisbane and will play two concerts in Sydney on the weekend, before heading to Melbourne and Adelaide.Â

On Sunday, he was pictured enjoying a sun-soaked beach day with his wife Cherry Seaborn, 30, and their two children, Lyra Antarctica, two, and Jupiter, nine months, in Byron Bay.
Ed kept it casual in bright blue boardshorts and a green long-sleeved rash vest, which he wore to go for a quick dip in the ocean to cool off.
In November 2021, Ed revealed having his daughter Lyra Antarctica was a ‘blessing’ and a ‘miracle’ after struggling to conceive with his wife.

The singer told how the couple had booked doctors appointments to check everything was okay after ‘trying to have a kid for a while’.
They then welcomed their first child last August, after conceiving naturally during a holiday in 2019 to Antarctica – which inspired the unusual name.
He told US radio’s The Breakfast Club: ‘We had tried for a while to have a kid, and we’d started going to doctors and figuring out what was up. I did think it was a miracle, so that’s why I was like, we should have this in the name.’
Ed and Cherry are childhood sweethearts, having grown up together in the same town.
They rekindled their romance in 2014 and tied the knot in a small ceremony five years later.
