Anderson previously issued a press release where she noted via People that she was an admirer of several individuals who had been involved with the musical in the past.

She stated: ‘I have always been a huge fan of Bob Fosse & Gwen Verdon’s work. Ann Reinking, too.’

The performer then praised the work of the musical’s choreographer, who also wrote its book.

‘Performing Fosse, you don’t have time to get in your head. You can’t dance, sing and think at the same time,’ she said.

Anderson also expressed that she was happy to be able to be involved in a production of the long-running musical.

She remarked: ‘There is a freedom, a unique joy in knowing it’s all about the work.’

The performer concluded her statement by writing: ‘Playing Roxie Hart is a sweet escape for me.’
