Formula One driver Sergio Perez has issued a grovelling, public apology to his wife after being caught on camera dancing with women during a ‘bad party’.
Videos emerged showing Red Bull star Perez toasting his victory at the Monaco Grand Prix last month on what appeared to be a yacht, with the 32-year-old seen dancing with his arms around a blonde and getting close to a brunette during the evening.Â
Taking to social media, he has now taken ‘responsibility’ for his actions, but insisted he and his partner Carola Martinez are ‘more united than ever’.
In a message posted on Instagram, he said: ‘I have seen the videos that have been circulating about me and I take responsibility for it.
‘It was a bad party that I didn’t know how to control at the height of the person that I am, but it was just that, a very bad party.
‘People close to me know my values and the type of person that I am.Â

After winning the Monaco Grand Prix, Red Bull’s Perez was spotted getting close to a brunette
In footage seemingly taken aboard a yacht, Perez was also seen dancing with a blonde woman
‘For those who ask me, we are more united than ever, me and my wife.
‘And for those who just want to hurt us, I wish you the best.Â
‘Thank you all for your love and I apologise to all the people who love me because those videos don’t represent me, not at all.
‘We will not talk about this topic anymore, which only makes us forget the great moment we are living as a family. Thank you.’Â
In a statement released on Instagram, the driver insisted his family are ‘more united than ever’
Perez shares three children with his wife, having recently welcomed baby Emilio to the family. Their youngest son, Sergio, is four, while daughter Carlota is two.
The couple were engaged in August 2017, and officially married in June 2018.
The Mexican claimed his first win of the season in Monte Carlo last month, meanwhile, and was promptly rewarded with a new two-year contract by his team.
Currently, he is third in the drivers’ standings behind Max Verstappen, the defending world champion and his Red Bull team-mate, and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
After taking his third victory in F1, Perez was rewarded with a new two-year deal at Red Bull
On his fresh deal, he said: ‘For me, this has been an incredible week, winning the Monaco Grand Prix is a dream for any driver and then to follow that with announcing I will continue with the team until 2024 just makes me extremely happy.Â
‘I am so proud to be a member of this team and I feel completely at home here now.
‘We are working very well together and my relationship with Max [Verstappen], on and off the track, is definitely helping drive us forward even more.
‘We have built tremendous momentum as a team and this season is showing that, I am excited to see where that can take us all in the future.’
