MSNBC has sparked outrage after accusing Nikki Haley of ‘using her brown skin to launder white supremacy’ in the early days of her presidential campaign.
Host Mehdi Hasan fronted a heated interview about the Republican hopeful, where his guests took aim at Haley for her repeated claim that America ‘is not a racist country’.
‘I see Haley and I feel sad’, said Daily Beast contributor Wajahat Ali during the outlandish exchange.
‘She uses her brown skin as a weapon against poor black folks and poor brown-black folks.’

Daily Beast contributor Wajahat Ali has come under fire for his comments on the show
Haley was the first Indian American member of a presidential cabinet, serving in Trump’s administration as U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. for nearly two years. Haley became the first major Republican to challenge Donald Trump for the GOP presidential earlier this month.
But her candidacy has sparked a wave of controversial comments from liberal pundits, with CNN’s Don Lemon and The View’s Whoopi Goldberg also coming under fire for their attacks on the Republican.
Ali followed up his suggestion that Haley uses her skin color as a ‘weapon’ by branding her an ‘alpha Karen with brown skin’.
The commentator was seemingly referencing Haley’s age with the comment, with a ‘Karen’ being a popular online insult for middle-aged women.
Ali added that ‘Nikki Haley instead is the Dinesh D’Souza of Candace Owens,’ seemingly lumping her political stances in with Indian American filmmaker D’Souza and conservative talk show host Owens.
‘For White supremacists and racists, she’s the perfect Manchurian candidate.’
Haley has used the early days of her candidacy to note her unique upbringing as an Indian American in South Carolina, but Ali claimed her depiction is one merely used to score political points.
He said: ‘Instead of pulling us up from the bootstraps and pulling others (up by their) boot(straps), we’re taught to take your boot and put it on the neck of poor Browns, immigrants, refugees and Black folks.
‘Nikki, they’ll never love you. It ain’t worth it.’
MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan previously took offence to Haley’s presidential hopes earlier this week, where he claimed on his show she had ‘abandoned’ her race in order to run for the GOP nomination.

Despite Haley becoming the first Indian American member of a presidential candidate when she served as Ambassador to the UN under Donald Trump, Ali said he was far from ‘applauding her’ for her achievements.
‘I am just disgusted by people like Nikki Haley who know better, whose parents were the beneficiaries of the 1965 Immigration Nationality Act,’ which Ali argued was passed nearly 60 years ago ‘thanks to those original BLM protesters.’
He also added that Haley is an ‘amoeba who shape shifts to whatever is convenient.’
Ali’s comments brought on a wave of criticism after they were circulated online, with one person hitting back that his stance was ‘disgusting’.
‘What an ugly, hate filled liberal idiot,’ said another.
A third said: ‘Wajahat Ali gets my vote as the “Disgusting Person of the Day” – why did MSNBC allow him airtime?
‘His comments were racist and vile.’
The commentator’s rant was also slammed by some for being ‘hypocritical’, with one viewer hitting out: ‘Imagine the outrage if the same had been said of Kamala.’
Despite severe backlash following his comments, Ali has since doubled down, taking to Twitter to praise himself for annoying ‘all the right people’.
‘Apparently calling out racism is more offensive than, you know, actual racism and its toxic consequences,’ he added.
The pundit’s attack on her age by calling her a ‘Karen’ mirrors a recent scandal surrounding CNN’s Don Lemon, who was forced to apologize after he said the 51-year-old was ‘past her prime’ as a woman.
His comments came after Haley suggested politicians 75 and older should face mental competency tests.
Lemon, who at 56 is five years older than Haley, 51, said the politician should tread lightly on the topic because ‘a woman is in their prime in 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.’
Haley’s Republican candidacy also caught the ire of the hosts of The View, with Whoopi Goldberg coming under fire after she claimed the Republican had lost her ‘sanity’.
Whoopi Goldberg has also come under fire after she launched into a furious rant following Nikki Haley’s presidential announcement
Nikki Haley quickly fired back at Goldberg on Twitter following her tirade
‘So Nikki, you know, since you have been asleep all this time, and you just woke up, you’re just finding out that there are things about our country that are not perfect,’ said Goldberg.
Goldberg particularly took offence to Haley’s reluctance to admit America is ‘not perfect’ in her campaign, alongside her repeated suggestion that America is ‘not a racist country’.
‘For us to pretend that (America is perfect), that nothing happened, is ridiculous,’ she said.
‘You of all people should know better. You used to actually have some sanity and knew right from wrong and then you lost your mind and went into some new direction.’
Goldberg’s co-host Joy Behar then doubled down on the rant, hitting out at ‘politicians on the right’ who have ‘become mentally crazy.’
Following the rant, Haley quickly fired back, leading a wave of criticism over The View hosts’ attack on her candidacy.
‘Here we go again Whoopi,’ the GOP contender said on Twitter.
‘The thought of me running for President makes the liberals’ heads explode. I wonder why?’
