Milly Alcock featured on new poster for Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon

Milly Alcock proudly posed with her scaly beast in the new poster for George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal’s 10-episode Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, which premieres August 21 on HBO Max.

The Australian 22-year-old – who boasts 25K Instagram followers – excitedly Instastoried the poster on Wednesday morning.

Milly – best known for her role as Meg in Foxtel/Sky/Amazon series Upright -portrays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, King Viserys’ (Paddy Considine) firstborn child of pure Valyrian blood and a dragonrider.

Rhaenyra expects to become the Seven Kingdoms’ first queen regnant, but her uncle Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) has other plans.

‘Men would sooner put the realm to the torch then see a woman ascend the Iron Throne,’ Princess Rhaenys Velaryon (Eve Best) warned Rhaenyra in the trailer.

As of 2019, Alcock was still living with her parents in Sydney, having just graduated from the Newtown High School of the Performing Arts. 

Non-binary actor Emma D’Arcy – turning 30 next Monday – will be portraying the older version of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. 

The House of the Dragons’ large ensemble cast also includes Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke, Sonoya Mizuno, and Fabien Frankel.
