Revealed by a Macca’s fan on TIkTok, the surprising ingredient shocked many as many weren’t even aware the popular dip was made with fruit.
Holding her favourite Macca’s sauce, the UK TikToker expressed her surprised at her discovery.

A UK Macca’s fan shared the little known fact online, surprising many of her followers, some of who didn’t realise the dip was made from fruit
‘Am I the only one who didn’t know what fruit its made of?’
‘Have a guess,’ she said before doing a countdown for the big reveal.
‘F*****g apricot, it’s apricot,’ she exclaimed.
Her followers were also surprised at the revelation.
‘I said mango so confidently. I had no idea that it was even a fruit,’ one woman said.
’23 years of being my favourite sauce and I’ve never thought to read the ingredients,’ another wrote.
‘So McDonalds is giving one of your five a day?’ a clever woman asked.
‘The worst fruit to exist makes the tastiest sauce,’ another commented.
Many TikTok users guessed it was made from pineapple or mango, one thought it could be made from banana.
Others added that apricot is used in many of McDonald’s sauces.
‘Same with their curry sauce,’ one woman commented.
Food content creator Raphael Gomes attempted to make the iconic sweet and sour sauce from a leaked recipe using everyday ingredients.
He mixed 1/4 cup of apricot preserve, 1/4 cup of peach preserve, two tablespoons of corn syrup, five teaspoons of white vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon of soy sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of mustard, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/8 teaspoon of garlic and one 1/2 teaspoons of corn starch.
He then emulsified the mix using a blender before adding two tablespoons of water and bringing the mix to the boil for five minutes.

The foodie couldn’t believe how similar his result was to the real sauce, from consistency to flavour.
‘I’m gonna get in so much trouble. They are 150 per cent the same sauce.’
‘I don’t think you understand. This is exactly the same texture.’
