Malin Andersson shared details of her battle with post-natal depression this week while appearing on Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast, Happy Mum Happy Baby.

The former Love Island star, 30, gave birth to baby daughter Xaya back in February 2022, but suffered both pre and post-natal depression during that time, which came after the tragic death of her daughter Consy in 2019.

Admitting that she had a feeling of ‘not being good enough’, the reality star explained the difficulty of battling being happy over the new arrival whilst grieving over her daughter and late mother.

She split from ex-boyfriend and Xaya’s father, Jared, just months after the birth – sharing at the time that she felt ‘blindsided’.

But sharing this week that the door isn’t shut for the couple, Malin added that there’s ‘no saying no to the future’ for the former couple.

Malin has previously shared that she suffered from ‘bad suicidal thoughts’ at her darkest while battling mental health struggles after giving birth.

She lost her first daughter Consy back in 2019 one month after a premature birth, which left her worrying whilst in the early months of parenting Xaya as she feared something going wrong.

While it also became difficult balancing the new arrival as it brought back feelings of grief for her mother, who she lost in 2017.

Talking on the podcast, Giovanna questioned Malin on what her post-natal depression looked like.

The TV star shared: ‘Me feeling anxious, stressed, and crying randomly. Looking at Xaya, thinking oh my god she’s beautiful and she’s mine but oh my god she might die tomorrow.

‘”Am I doing this right? Where’s my mum?” Grieving over my mum. Not wanting to go out, or not wanting anybody to meet her, didn’t want to see anyone.’

Continuing how this impacted her relationship, Malin added that she wanted Jared to be there all the time and became ‘co-dependant’.

Adding: ‘Being too scared to be on my own, because I didn’t think I was capable enough to look after even though I was fully.

‘Breastfeeding, and then it became too much for me. I did 8 or 9 days, and then I just decided to stop. There was a feeling of not being good enough because I didn’t breastfeed. There’s just so much involved in it, it was a collection of everything.’

Back in Spring 2022, Malin shared to her Instagram followers that she and boyfriend Jared had split, just months after welcoming their daughter.

But almost a year on, the reality star now has a healthy co-parenting relationship with her ex and sees hope for a potential reconciliation.

Explaining that she would never talk poorly of Jared, due to the public nature of their relationship and family, Malin shared that she wouldn’t want her daughter to grow up and see their woes.

She told Giovanna: ‘I very much love him and he loves me, and we were good friends for a long time and it just didn’t work out as a relationship. But, there’s no saying no to the future, because we get on now and things are going nicely.’
