Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies make their film debut in new project for Flickerfest

They’re usually seen co-hosting Chanel Seven’s The Morning Show. 

But Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies are set to grace the big screen after joining the cast of a new short film by Australian director Greg Moran. 

The 12-minute film, titled White Lies, features the beloved breakfast TV duo in cameo roles alongside former deputy prime Minister Barnaby Joyce.

White Lies will be screened at popular short film festival Flickerfest in Bondi, between January 20 to 29.

Co-starring David Woodland, Ed Wightman and Kyra Harlan, the film is a light-hearted tale which focusses on the relationship between a father and his daughter.

‘It’s based around someone trying to get their kid into a Catholic school, and pretending to be a bit more religious than they really are. I thought it was a good avenue for comedy,’ Moran told The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday.

‘These well intentioned lies escalate out of control and the father has to choose between having money and power, and being a good role model for his daughter.’

White Lies is one of 200 projects which were selected for the festival hosted at Bondi Pavilion.

‘It’s a very prestigious festival and hard to get into, so we’re really pleased,’ he said.

Based in Sydney’s North Shore, Moran has found success as a filmmaker, producer and motivational speaker. 

He is paralysed from his shoulders down after breaking his neck playing ruby in 1983 when he was 15 years old.
