Lady Chatterley’s Geezer! Joely Richardson has a ball with Vinnie Jones on the set of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix gangster series The Gentlemen

She starred in Lady Chatterley’s Lover 30 years ago – with Sean Bean as the gamekeeper in a steamy BBC adaptation of the D.H. Lawrence novel.

Now Joely Richardson is preparing to play a country aristocrat again, with another famously tough-guy actor alongside her.

Joely is starring with Vinnie Jones in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix gangster series The Gentlemen. Looking every inch the country woman in a stylish tweed jacket, flat cap and riding boots, she was last week seen horsing around on set with 58-year-old Jones, during filming near Badminton House in Gloucestershire.

An onlooker said: ‘The mood on set was so happy and relaxed and there was some lovely interaction between Vinnie and Joely.

‘At one point he playfully grabbed her and pulled her backwards while she often linked arms with him between takes.’

The Gentlemen, a spin-off of Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name, depicts marijuana farms that are concealed on the estates of aristocrats who use the drugs to fund their gentrified lifestyles. Ritchie is reunited with Jones, who made his debut in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998.

Theo James plays the lead role of Eddie Halstead, who inherits an estate from his estranged father only to find it is sitting on one of the biggest weed farms in Europe.

Ms Richardson, 58, plays his mother Lady Sabrina and Jones is groundskeeper Geoff Seacombe.

Irish actress Leah McNamara, who had a part in the BBC’s Normal People, was also at the three-day shoot.

She and a stunt double were seen riding on horseback around the private estate, which has previously been used by Netflix for its global period drama hit Bridgerton.

The Gentlemen is set to be released on the streaming service later this year.

In the 1993 BBC TV version of Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Ms Richardson played the aristocrat who has an affair with her gamekeeper.

She was also in last year’s Netflix adaptation of the 1928 novel – but in a different role, with The Crown’s Emma Corrin as Lady Chatterley.
