Kyiv‘s security chief vowed that Ukraine’s ‘tanks will be parked on Moscow’s Red Square and that will be justice’ ahead of the first anniversary of Putin’s invasion.
Oleksiy Danilov, Kyiv’s National Security and Defence Council boss, called Vladimir Putin ‘Hitler’s twin’ as he reiterated Ukraine’s ambition to expel all Russian troops from its soil, including from Crimea which was annexed by Moscow in 2014.
The security boss previously warned the bloodiest battles are ‘yet to come’ within the next few months, in what will be a ‘defining’ moment of the war, amid warnings that the Russian president will soon launch a new offensive in the east of Ukraine to take control of – at the very least – Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.
In his latest comments, Danilov vowed that Ukraine would get justice for the thousands of civilians who have been killed since Putin ordered his forces across the border on February 24 last year. He also warned other countries that the Russian despot would not stop at Ukraine if his forces achieve victory.
‘Our tanks will be on Red Square and that will be justice,’ Danilov The Sun. ‘They invaded our territory, killed our women, our children, the elderly and civilians.
Oleksiy Danilov, Kyiv’s National Security and Defence Council boss, declared there would be justice for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
The security boss spoke of how it was not Ukraine who initiated the conflict, and it was not their country who called the Russians to war
‘If we don’t give them a proper answer it is only a matter of time before they invade another country,’ he warned.
Ukraine and its Western allies have sounded the alarm over a renewed Russian offensive in Ukraine that could be launched to mark the first anniversary of the war.
Kyiv’s forces are preparing to defend against a Russian assault that could consist of 400 fighter jets, 300 helicopters, 1,800 new tanks and 3,950 armoured vehicles.
Ukraine’s security boss added how it was not Ukraine who initiated the war, and it was not their country who called upon the Russians. ‘We didn’t start this war. We didn’t call them here,’ he told the newspaper.
However, he said that it is only a matter of time until Russia eventually self-destruct, as Putin will in time be known as the man who destroyed Russia – describing the unstoppable process as inevitable as a ‘volcano erupting.’
He believes within the next 12 months, Russia will become increasingly fragmented, and at this point, there is no fixing the damage.
Danilov dubbed Putin as ‘Hitler’s twin’ – adding that he too would face an end in a bunker like the Nazi dictator, who died by suicide via gunshot in his war bunker in Berlin after it became clear that Germany would lose the Second World War.
The Ukrainian firebrand’s comments came on Sunday, as EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell backed a call for the bloc’s members to buy arms jointly to help Ukraine, but warned it would not solve Kyiv’s urgent need for more ammunition now.
Borrell was responding to an Estonian proposal for the EU to place large ammunition orders on behalf of multiple member states to speed up procurement and encourage European arms firms to invest in increasing their production capacities.
EU officials say they are urgently exploring the possibility of joint procurement of 155 millimetre artillery shells to help Kyiv defend itself against Russia. EU foreign ministers are expected to discuss the Estonian plan in Brussels on Monday.
In a panel discussion with Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas in Munich on Sunday, Borrell said: ‘I completely agree with the Estonian prime minister’s proposal, we are working on that and it will work.’
But in a speech before the discussion, Borrell said joint procurement could only bear fruit in the medium term. Right now, Ukraine’s supporters must quickly send supplies from existing stocks, he said.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Sunday that China was considering providing weapons to Russia
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Sunday that China was considering providing weapons to Russia in its war against Ukraine, warning Beijing that any supplies would ’cause a serious problem.’
‘The concern that we have now is based on information we have that they’re considering providing lethal support,’ Blinken told CBS’s ‘Face The Nation.’
Asked what lethal support would entail, he said ‘everything from ammunition to the weapons themselves.’
Blinken made similar comments in a series of interviews with American television from Germany, where on Saturday he attended the Munich Security Conference and met with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.
He told Wang then that ‘if China provides material support to Russia or assistance with systemic sanctions evasion,’ there will be consequences, a State Department official said.
Taken together, the US comments appeared to be among the clearest warning yet that China might be poised to go beyond rhetorical, political or diplomatic support for Russia and be ready to help arm it in its nearly year-old fight against Ukraine.
They also came at a time when already strained US-Chinese relations have been further tested by Washington’s shooting down of what it said was a large Chinese spy balloon.
Appearing Sunday on ABC, Blinken emphasized that US President Joe Biden had warned his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, as long ago as last March against sending weapons to Russia.
Since that time, ‘China has been careful not to cross that line, including by holding off on selling lethal weapons systems for use on the battlefield,’ according to an administration source familiar with the issue.
A top Republican senator who also attended the Munich conference, Lindsey Graham, said it would be a serious mistake for China to provide Russia with weapons.
Doing so now, he said, would be ‘dumber than dirt. It would be like buying a ticket on the Titanic after you saw the movie.’
Graham, known as a well-informed foreign policy hawk, also said he had strong indications that the US will soon announce plans to train Ukrainian fighter pilots, which would represent a further step in the West’s gradually escalating efforts to arm Ukraine.
Graham said he believed the US should declare Russia a state sponsor of terror for its actions in Ukraine – which would mean that China or any other country supplying it with arms would face sanctions.
Blinken’s meeting with Wang – the highest-level encounter between the countries since US jets shot down the Chinese balloon on February 4 – did not appear to ease tensions.

‘I told him quite simply that that was unacceptable and can never happen again,’ Blinken told CBS about the balloon incident.
Wang on Saturday dismissed the US allegations of high-altitude spying in uncharacteristically strong language, calling them ‘hysterical and absurd.’
Blinken said Sunday that his counterpart had offered him ‘no apology.’
The tough-sounding exchanges came a day after US Vice President Kamala Harris said in Munich that Russia had committed ‘crimes against humanity’ in Ukraine through ‘widespread and systemic’ attacks on the country’s civilian population.
