Karl Stefanovic takes a subtle dig at his ex Today show co-star Ally Langdon ahead of ACA debut

Today show’s Karl Stefanovic took a cheeky dig at his former co-host Ally Langdon ahead of her debut on A Current Affair on Monday night.

Karl and new co-host Sarah Abo called the blonde beauty just hours before her first show and noted how she had gone from early morning call times on Today to night shifts at ACA.

Larrikin Karl then joked that Ally had always been a little ‘lazy’. 

Today show’s Karl Stefanovic took a cheeky dig at his former co-host Ally Langdon on Monday morning ahead of her debut on A Current Affair when he called her alongside new host Sarah Abo 

‘I know it’s a bit of a shift for you, working at night – you’ve always been a little lazy,’ Karl said.

‘How is it going to be working at 7pm at night, what are you doing with the kids?’

Ally laughed off the joke, saying the sleep-ins haven’t been as long as she would have thought. 

‘I know it’s a bit of a shift for you, working at night – you’ve always been a little lazy,’ Karl joked as they discussed her new role 

 ‘I thought how good I’m going to sleep in these days, it’s not a 3am wake-up call, but the kids are still up at 5:30am,’ she explained. 

She went on to admit she had ‘nerves’ about the first show. 

‘I’m so looking forward to tonight,’ she said. 

Channel Nine confirmed in December that Ally will be abandoning her co-hosting role at Today to replace outgoing ACA host Grimshaw, 62 

‘We’ve been on the road shooting stories for the past couple of weeks which is really fun, but to be honest I have a few nerves about tonight.’

She went on to say Sarah has been doing a ‘marvellous’ job wrangling Karl while in the hot seat.

‘Sarah, you’re so amazing in that chair, honestly it’s been lovely to watch,’ she added. 

‘You look so comfortable and you’ve managed to wrangle in that bloke beside you pretty well – It’s been lovely sitting at home watching. ‘

The blonde beauty broke down in uncontrollable tears as Karl paid a very emotional tribute to his ‘very dear friend’ and beloved co-host of almost three years.

She choked up as Karl sung her praises and said she was the perfect fit to step into her late father-in-law Mike Willesee’s shoes on A Current Affair.
