Jonnie Irwin shares an insight into his stunning family trip to Marrakesh after revealing that A Place In The Sun couldn’t get travel insurance to keep him on the show following his terminal cancer diagnosis

Jonnie Irwin is enjoying a family getaway to Marrakesh this week and has been keeping fans up to date with the trip via social media.

The TV presenter, 49, shared a clip of the Moroccan city’s gorgeous landscap on Thursday, leaning over the man driving him to get the shot as he joked: ‘Let me know when this is uncomfortable’.

It comes after he revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer in August 2020, which then spread to his brain.

And A Place In The Sun decided not to renew his presenting contract following the news, as they claimed they were unable to get the correct insurance for him to travel for the show.

Jonnie shared a collection of videos to his Instagram Stories showing the scenery from his car window.

Leaning over the pal driving him around, the presenter said: ‘Let me know when this gets uncomfortable.’

‘About two minutes ago,’ said the pal as Jonnie flipped the camera to show himself leaning over and squashing him.

And the presenter was left heartbroken after revealing the diagnosis to his bosses on show A Place In The Sun – who then axed him from the hosting role.

Free Form Productions, who make the programme, said they were ‘unable to secure adequate insurance cover’ for him to continue international filming amid the Covid-19 crisis and said they understood his ‘frustration’ at the decision.

A statement released to MailOnline read: ‘Jonnie has been a hugely important part of the A Place In The Sun family for over 18 years and all of us were deeply saddened by his diagnosis.

‘Much loved by everyone on the production, no stone was left unturned in trying to enable Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during Covid but the production company were unable to secure adequate insurance cover for him.
