John was also forced to apologise in May 2021 in response to historical claims of ‘inappropriate behaviour‘ on the set of Torchwood, an admission that led to him being dropped from his role as a judge on ITV’s Dancing On Ice.
The Centre Stage tour would have seen the former Doctor Who star perform in Cardiff, Glasgow and Manchester as well as London’s Adelphi Theatre.
He wrote on Instagram on Monday: ‘It is with huge regret that we have decided to cancel the UK tour’.
‘Unfortunately, tickets sales in certain parts of the UK have been slow, and with the increased costs of touring it is no longer economically viable to continue’.
Difficult: The announcement also came after he was forced to apologise in May 2021 in response to historical claims of ‘inappropriate behaviour’ on the set of Torchwood, an admission that led to him being dropped from Dancing On Ice (pictured in 2021)
‘This is a decision that has not been taken lightly, and I know many of my fans will be very upset, as am I’.
He continued: ‘Personally I am devastated and like many people I have found the last years extremely difficult, possibly the hardest few years of my life. When it gets tough it is sometimes better to stop and re-evaluate and that is exactly what I am going to do’.
Before signing off: ‘I am so sorry to all my fans. Jb’.

Last week John was slammed by fans for leaving a comment accusing his Torchwood co-star Eve Myles of ‘spewing rhetoric.’
John, who appeared with Eve in the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood from 2006 to 2011, responded to a video showing the pair gushing how much they cared for one another, with fans quickly claiming he ‘should have reached out to her privately.’
On Tuesday, one eagle-eyed fan noticed that John’s account had disappeared, writing: ‘Hold up, what’s happened to @JohnBarrowman’s account?
‘Has it gone because it keeps throwing up and error message when I try to click on his name? Anyone know what’s up there?’.
One user then shared a screenshot of John’s last post, which was a reply to a fan who had shared a video of himself and Eve gushing about how much they cared for one another.
The reply was deleted along with John’s account, but had already been reposted by a Doctor Who fan account.
It read: ‘One is telling the truth! One is spewing rhetoric for an audience…’

John’s reply then sparked a flurry of comments from users slamming him for airing his outrage publicly, insisting he should reach out to Eve privately.
One posted: ‘I don’t know what’s going on, but please don’t do this. Putting someone you were close with on blast like this isn’t a good look for you.
‘I think you should talk with Eve privately and air out any grievances you have together.’
Another added; ‘To say that about Eve Myles really was the final straw, sadly, things like that should be kept private.’
Bizarre: Several users shared screenshots of John’s now-deleted comment in response to a historic video of himself of Eve, saying: ”One is telling the truth! One is spewing rhetoric’
A third also penned: ‘publicly digging at someone you used to call a friend isn’t clever.’
MailOnline has contacted representatives for John Barrowman and Eve Myles for comment.
John and Eve famously starred as Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper in Torchwood, and even after the series ended in 2011, they went onto appear in various Big Finish audio dramas in the Who universe.
The I’m A Celebrity star played the role of the immortal Time Agent who set up a team in Cardiff to fight alien threats, recruiting policewoman Gwen in the show’s opening episode.
In 2016, Eve announced that she had goodbye to the role of Gwen, tweeting: ‘well Iv made my mind up and GC is now Laid to rest..thanks guys for living/hating her… Nightnight.’

It comes after John faced backlash last year when historical claims resurfaced that he exposed himself on the Doctor Who set in 2005, and while filming Torchwood a year later, and he subsequently apologised.
In November 2021, Barrowman insisted the controversy surrounding his past antics was ‘exaggerated’ as he gave his first interview since being sacked from the Dancing On Ice judging panel.
Speaking in an interview with Lorraine, he said: ‘All the people that are making the fuss about it, they weren’t there, they don’t know the context of things that were done.’
Barrowman described his past actions as ‘silly behaviour’ and insisted that he would ‘never do it now’ after previously admitting to ‘tomfoolery’ on the sets of Doctor Who, where he began playing Captain Jack Harkness in 2005 and spin-off series Torchwood a year later.
Speaking out: In 2021, Barrowman insisted the controversy surrounding his past antics was ‘exaggerated’ after historical claims resurfaced that he exposed himself on the Doctor Who set
He explained: ‘I think that if it was now, it would be crossing the line. I think that something that happened 15 years ago, it was bawdy behaviour, silly behaviour, it was being done in the confines of the set, and we were like a family, working together.
‘The fact that it was stories that I’ve already told. I’ve been telling them for years. I haven’t hidden anything, they’ve been exaggerated, and they’ve tried to turn them into sexual harassment which it absolutely is not.’
He added: ‘The one thing for me, all the people that are making the fuss about it, they weren’t there, they don’t know the context of things that were done. The continued bashing is not good. We’ve moved on
‘Like I said, I would never do it now but what we’re not allowing people and myself to do… we’re not allowing people to learn to adapt and to change, and that’s the most important thing.’
No charges were brought against the media personality after allegations about him exposing himself were revealed in May 2021, following more serious allegations of sexual harassment against his Doctor Who co-star Noel Clarke.
The incidents came to light in a resurfaced video on YouTube from 2014 and filmed at sci-fi convention, Chicago Tardis.
It was released by The Guardian newspaper which had investigated Clarke’s behaviour on the Doctor Who set.
