Renner is well known in the local community in Reno, with the actor paying visits to homeless centers on Thanksgiving and helping children choose toys in the local stores.
The 51-year-old actor has even renovated hundreds of fire trucks, ambulances and snow plows at his rural property to help the local community deal with wildfires and heavy blizzards.

Renner’s home features five bedrooms and five bathrooms, as well as a wooden interior with huge stone fireplaces.Â
The house is surrounded by pine trees and the bedrooms overlook the remote surroundings. The wooden staircase leading up to the second floor is also hand-carved.
Renner often posts pictures on his Instagram posing next to his renovated trucks and snowmobiles. He is also often seen driving his snow plows whilst clearing roads and driveways of snow.
It was whilst he was clearing snow in one of his industrial snow plows at his ranch home that Renner was injured and airlifted to hospital on Sunday where he remains in a ‘critical but stable’ condition.
Renner, a lover of heavy machinery, owns a number snow plows he uses to clear his long private driveway as well as roads and paths in his area. The Hawkeye actor has complained of heavy snow due to unprecedented Winter storms gripping the US.
Renner revealed in 2021 that he was building a fire station at his house near Lake Tahoe, where he moved to nine years ago, because it is a ‘hot zone for fires’.
‘There’s been a fire not a half mile from where my house is. Pretty threatening,’ Renner, who is a trained volunteer firefighter, told Men’s Health in November 2021.Â
‘I’m using fire trucks for defensible space and for protecting my neighborhood, all the people up there.’
He has spent hours renovating around 200 vehicles – including fire engines, utility vans, an ambulance that he is converting into a veterinary clinic, and scores of city buses he will transform into mobile homes.

‘It isn’t a horse ranch,’ Renner told Men’s Health  in November 2021. ‘It’s more of a horsepower ranch.’
He would spend hours during the pandemic bidding on fire trucks on online auctions.
‘I had 30 fire trucks a hundred feet from a hydrant,’ he said. ‘Not because they’re there to firefight, but they all potentially could.’
Renner, who became an honorary Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputy in 2018, also works with fire departments in the area to help tackle blazing wildfires in the summer months.
‘I work with the fire departments up there and they are pretty awesome,’ Renner told the Kelly Clarkson Show in 2021. ‘They are teaching me and helping me, and I still have to get some more hours in with them.’

Renner has converted one of his many fire trucks into a birthday partymobile for children. It even features a bouncy castle on top.
‘A compressor inside the fire truck, it blows up the thing,’ Renner said. ‘On the side of the rig, Slurpee and snow-cone machines – all that stuff!’Â
Renner has also built a recording studio in his ranch home and he estimates he has written around 1,000 songs so far. Images from social media show Renner playing his guitar on a sofa in his recording studio.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Renner would camp out in his backyard with his daughter so they could watch the stars together. He posted images on social media with his tent next to a small tent and two mini chairs with the caption ‘backyard camping!

Renner moved to his home in Reno around nine years ago and he says he remains there because of the strong community spirit and the ‘majestic’ mountains. Â
‘In a big city, it’s hard to find community and even know your neighbors in a big city, but with Reno, I find I know quite a few people here. It’s just big enough, and it’s just small enough for me, and I love it,’ Renner told the Reno Gazette Journal in 2019. Â
Renner first visited the area as a child during family vacations and would spend hours skiing. He now teaches all of the children in his family how to ski in the Lake Tahoe area.
He also gives a lot back to the community, with the actor bringing his nine-year-old daughter Ava, who he shares with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, to Reno to serve food and hand out warm clothes to homeless people on Thanksgiving in 2019.
A month later, Renner joined more than 200 volunteers to shop in a Walmart in South Reno with 250 underprivileged children. Each child was given a $200 spending allowance, which they used to buy clothes and toys for themselves and their families.
