Human remains found in dense Queensland bush after four-wheel driver inadvertently finds skeleton on remote track

Four-wheel drivers have inadvertently stumbled across a skeleton on an isolated track in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Queensland Police said two men discovered the remains on a remote track in the Glasshouse Mountains at about midday on Tuesday.
Police have since declared a crime scene at the bushland track with initial examinations of the remains indicating they are human.
‘They will be sent for further scientific and forensic analysis including establishing gender,’ police said in a statement on Wednesday.

An incident centre has been established at Maroochydore Police Station with Sunshine Coast police to collaborate with other specialist officers.
Glass House Mountains is a rural hinterland town in the Sunshine Coast with a population of 5,065 people as recorded in the 2016 Census.
The mountains are popular with tourists and locals looking to go on bush walks, climbs, and four-wheel drives on the picturesque tracks.
Police have asked that anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers.
