It was announced Ed would be performing during the Platinum Jubilee at the end of May.

He took to the stage at the finale of the carnival procession through the streets of London, ahead of the National Anthem, singing his hit romantic ballad Perfect as footage featuring images of the Queen and Philip filed the giant screens around the stage.

Philip – the man the Queen described as her ‘strength and stay’ – was married to the monarch for 73 years and devoted decades of his life to royal duty.

The Queen appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the final act of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The 96-year-old monarch appeared for a few minutes and waved to the crowds from the balcony, where she was joined by members of her family, including the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The crowd outside the Palace sang the national anthem, after the Queen – who has been experiencing some discomfort in recent days – and her family waved on the balcony.
