Elon Musk was spotted cozying up to a new woman over the weekend, but did his model mother play matchmaker for the pair?
Elon, 50, was seen putting on a very loved up display with Australian actress Natasha Bassett, 27, while enjoying lunch in the upscale French town of St. Tropez on Sunday – seemingly confirming that he is in a relationship with the rising on-screen star, three months after they were first linked.
And although it appears that their romance only flourished recently, it turns out, the two have actually known each other for years – since Natasha has been pals with Elon’s mom, Maye, since 2015.
In fact, the Sports Illustrated model, 74, may have been the one to actually introduce Natasha to her Tesla billionaire son, as their friendship dates back more than six years.
Maye first met Natasha in September 2015; at the time, she posted a sweet comment on then-unknown actress’ Instagram account saying how much she had enjoyed meeting her and her mother, Jenny, although it’s unclear how or where they were introduced.

‘Lovely meeting you both,’ she wrote in a comment on Natasha’s page at the time.
And it appears that the two are still close, as the Australian star was photographed excitedly chatting with 74-year-old at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of her new movie, Elvis, last week.
Natasha is set to play one of the singer’s girlfriends, named Dixie Locke, in the biopic, which comes out on June 24.
Natasha and her boyfriend’s mom could be seen animatedly talking and sharing a laugh on the red carpet for the upcoming flick, which also stars Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge, Dacre Montgomery, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Hollywood Life reported that Natasha actually brought Maye as her date to the event.
‘Elon and Natasha are still going strong and over time Natasha has developed a solid bond with his mother Maye,’ an insider spilled to the outlet.
‘Maye is the most important person in Elon’s world and the fact that she adores Natasha means so much to him.’
The source added the pair ‘have only been dating for a couple of months, but they are already in a monogamous relationship.’

Then, the SpaceX founder took the 27-year-old as his plus one to Entourage muse Ari Emanuel and fashion designer Sarah Staudinger’s star-studded wedding in St. Tropez on May 28.
The next morning, the couple was photographed on a low-key date in the coastal European town; Elon and Natasha were seen enjoying a meal at the Cheval Blanc hotel, where rooms cost an upwards of $1,300-a-night.
The couple sipped on rose, ate French fries, and chatted animatedly while waiters fluttered by.
After finishing their meal, the tech mogul and his girlfriend then strolled hand-in-hand out of the expensive eatery – looking as happy as could be together.
Natasha, Elon’s youngest girlfriend yet, looked elegant during the outing in a $698 Zadig and Voltaire dress, silver sandals, and a matching bag.
Elon, who was dressed less suitably for the weather, wore a dark grey t-shirt, black jeans, and black leather Chelsea boots.
