Wild footage captures an Audi SUV driver travelling down a freeway in the WRONG direction at 100km/hour – as trucks desperately try to steer out of the way

Shocking footage has emerged of a motorist travelling down a busy freeway in the wrong direction. 

The white vehicle, which is believed to be an Audi, was filmed travelling at 100km/hour down the Monash Freeway in Melbourne.

The ‘insane’ incident was shared to Instagram and shows trucks and other vehicles steering clear of the driver.

Despite being on the other side of the road, the car is seen calmly travelling down one lane of traffic as several cars passed it, heading in the right direction.

The footage circulated online with one revealing they watched the chaos unfold.

‘I saw that, bloody insane,’ they said.

Others pointed out that ‘at least’ the driver was travelling at the correct speed for the freeway.

One Victorian said drivers travelling the wrong way on freeways happened ‘all the time’ in their hometown of Rushworth, about two hours north of Melbourne.
