Brisbane Airport evacuated following ‘security breach’

Brisbane Airport evacuated following ‘security breach’ as major flight delays are expected to cause havoc for passengers

A general evacuation order has been issued at Brisbane Airport on Sunday night after a ‘security breach’ at the terminal.

The entire Virgin Australia terminal was evacuated with the hundreds of passengers each having to be rescreened before being allowed back in – resulting in a chain of delays and flight disruptions.

Brisbane Airport said that while there was no threat to passengers, those arriving to the airport on Sunday night would need to check their flights for schedule changes.

‘Thanks to a swift response by airport security, these impacts have been contained to the southern end of the terminal (Virgin Australia end),’ Brisbane Airport said.

‘There will be impacts on flight schedules, and BAC recommends passengers contact their airlines for further updates.’

More to come.
