Brendan Fraser was spotted departing SiriusXM Studios in New York on Thursday, two weeks after earning his first Oscar nomination for his film The Whale.
The actor, 54, who has been receiving rave reviews for his role in the flick, embraced a casual look for his appearance.
Brendan wore a forest green bomber jacket, blue jeans, and suede shoes. A smart pair of black spectacles rested over his eyes.
The George Of The Jungle star sensibly carried his belongings about in a backpack.
Brendan, who has been enjoying a comeback after retreating from mainstream Hollywood, appeared to be chatting with a man as he briskly strode across the pavement.
Making his way! Brendan Fraser was spotted departing SiriusXM Studios in New York on Thursday, two weeks after earning his first Oscar nomination for his film The Whale
The appearance comes after Brendan revealed the surprise his children had waiting for him after he received his first Oscar nomination last month.Â
Fraser shares 20-year-old Griffin, 18-year-old Holden and 16-year-old Leland with his ex-wife Afton Smith, who he was married to from September 1998 to December 2007.
Speaking with Extra at an AARP event, Fraser was asked what went through his mind when he learned of his first Oscar nomination.
‘Astonishment and surprise, because my kids surprised me with cake and balloons,’ Fraser began.Â
‘They sneaked into the house, they had a plan. That and the feeling that sharing that moment with my loved ones is now a core memory of mine,’ he added.
Fraser has been nominated for a Golden Globe for The Whale and he won a Critics Choice Award for the critically-acclaimed performance. He’s also been nominated for a BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award as well.
The actor – who has worked regularly over the past two decades though on the outskirts of the mainstream Hollywood system – has been quite emotional in interviews and acceptance speeches when discussing his portrayal of 600-pound teacher Charlie in The Whale, and he did again at the AARP event when asked what’s behind the emotion.
‘I think it’s a fulfillment of an aspiration that I would have never even thought to dare to have allowed, let alone to myself, until I came into my 50s and I looked at my life, who I am, what I know about love from my kids and it gives it a context now,’ he said.Â

‘I love my job — it is the best one in the world, it also has proven to be something that I can do to help reach others in a way that’s meaningful that has gratitude, that has taught me some humility, that’s why,’ Fraser added.
When asked about his beloved character Charlie in The Whale, Fraser added, ‘He is your friend… He is that person who will always love who you are.’
‘He’ll take any situation that seems dire or negative and see a positive side of things. I think he is someone who we feel we can identify with because he is the same as we are. We all want the same things, to be regarded with civility, with kindness, and he is a man who has learned how to overcome his problems when he finds himself in a dark place and knows to go to the light and give back to those he loves,’ Fraser said.
Fraser will be going up against Austin Butler (Elvis), Bill Nighy (Living), Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Paul Mescal (Aftersun) at the 95th Academy Awards, airing live on ABC Sunday, March 12.Â
Fraser will next be seen in the comedy Brothers alongside Josh Brolin, Peter Dinklage and Glenn Close, and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, which are both in post-production.Â
