New allegations against AFL star Tarryn Thomas sees him leave club – after several women made complaints about threatening acts
Tarryn Thomas will ‘take time away from North Melbourne‘ after the AFL‘s integrity unit was informed of a new allegation against the 22-year-old on Wednesday.
Thomas hit the headlines last month after being charged with threatening to distribute an intimate image.
In a separate incident, he was stopped by police when driving with a suspended licence during the Kangaroos’ Christmas break.

This week more allegations were aired in the media about Thomas’ treatment of women, with North Melbourne president Sonja Hood penning an open letter on Wednesday to address the ‘serious and confronting allegations’.
The Kangaroos insisted they ‘take any allegations of threats of violence against women extremely seriously’ before vowing to stand by the young footballer.
But on Wednesday night the club confirmed that he would spend time away from the team after a new allegation came to light.Â
‘Tarryn Thomas will take time away from the club after the AFL’s Integrity Unit informed North Melbourne of a new allegation of inappropriate behaviour on Wednesday afternoon,’ a statement read.
Allegations surrounding the 22-year-old’s behaviour have been levelled towards himÂ
North Melbourne confirmed that Thomas would step away from the club amid the claims
It continued: ‘In the meantime, Thomas will be expected to meet his obligations around his respectful behaviour training and education program.’
According to News Corp, the AFL Integrity Unit heard allegations – prior to the latest one – which included:
- Telling a woman he wanted to beat her, as well as calling her names such as ‘s***’
- Throwing a lamp at a woman in a hotel room
- Sending threatening text messages, including ‘your time is coming’ while warning he was ‘going to bash’ a woman’s friend
- A verbal and physical altercation at a nightclub in Prahran
In a barrage of text messages, Thomas allegedly tells a woman: ‘You’re a f****** joke … keep talking s*** … s*** going to come around soon … your turn will come … s*** is going to go down … I’m not a n***** to be f****ed with.’
Another woman reportedly told friends: ‘I’m too scared… I know he’s gonna kill me’.
A different woman revealed how the footballer sent intimate pictures he had taken of her to others.
Hood also gave an insight into the past and present programs put in place by the club since Thomas’ past indiscretions came to light.
‘The club was aware of formal allegations made against Tarryn during 2022 that were investigated by the AFL’s Integrity Unit. Tarryn and the club co-operated fully with those investigations,’ Hood wrote.
‘The advice provided by the AFL following these incidents was that Tarryn should undertake training and education to deal with his behavioural issues.
