Horror as a primary school child is hit by a train on the way to school with train services suspended

A child has been hit by a train in Adelaide while they were on their way to school. 

The child was hit at Tambelin Railway Station at around 8.15am (ACDT). 

The child is reportedly conscious and breathing. 

The Gawler line, which connects north Adelaide to the CBD, has been suspended in both directions between Elizabeth and Gawler.

Replacement buses will temporarily operate the line. 

Clark Road, which crosses the station, has been closed to traffic.
