Rihanna sent Patrick Mahomes some words of affirmation on Thursday, after the quarterback was recently pranked by former NFL star Brandon Marshall.
The Umbrella hitmaker, 34 – who’s set to perform at the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show – caught up with Marshall, 38, after he recently left Mahomes, 27, embarrassed when he fooled him into thinking that he was her favorite quarterback.
‘I am so sorry you went through that [Patrick]. I still think you’re great. [Brandon’s] a hater!’ the songstress said in a new clip shared by Marshall to his Instagram.
The video began with Marshall explaining the hilarious prank to Rihanna, who chuckled as she listened.
‘Patrick Mahomes, I pranked him yesterday. And I said Rihanna said that you’re the greatest quarterback ever. He blushed. He smiled. And then at the end I was like, bro I’m lying.’

The video then cut back to the original clip, where Marshall told Mahomes during a press conference, ‘Rihanna came out and said that you are the greatest quarterback ever.’
‘Hearing that, how does that make you feel?’
‘It makes you feel great,’ the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback proudly replied, adding, ‘Whatever Rihanna says is like the gospels, so I’m glad that she went with me for that honor.’
‘She didn’t. She didn’t, I was messing with you,’ Marshall replied.
The clip then cut to Marshall speaking with Rihanna, as he asked her, ‘Can you tell him something nice?’
‘That’s so mean,’ the Barbados-born beauty commented. ‘He is mean, okay,’ she said pointing at Marshall, before affirming that she thinks Mahomes is great.
‘See? There’s still nice people in the world,’ Marshall said.
‘He’s a hater though,’ Rihanna added, as the athlete laughed.

He captioned the clip writing, ‘What @badgalriri said!! @patrickmahomes you can smile now.’
In the original clip Mahomes looked defeated after being told the truth, as he said, ‘Man, you got me up here smilin’ while the media laughed at Marshall’s prank.
The Chiefs and Mahomes will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII this Sunday.

Speaking to panel moderator Nadeska Alexis, the star revealed that she has worked through 39 different set lists to get it right, and revealed how her stage on the night will have to be built in just eight minutes, making the stakes for it to go right sky high.
The Love On The Brain hitmaker talked about how much preparation has gone into creating the show.
‘This is the week that – it really is [about] being tested. Everyone, we’re just tightening up everything, everybody’s dialing in, everybody’s tuning up, and [it’s] a lot of moving parts.’
Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance marks the first time she will perform live since 2018.
Her last performance was at the 2018 Grammys with DJ Khalid when they performed their song Wild Thoughts.
The monumental show will also be her first performance since giving birth to her son in May of 2022, who she shares with partner A$AP Rocky.
