Using both vinegar and dishwashing soap will kill any germs while essential oils add a nice smelling fragrance.

She also suggested investing in a good quality bucket with two separate compartments to clean the mop in one side before dipping it in the other to keep the water clean.

This isn’t the first time the cleaning and organising guru has wowed with her useful tips and advice to keep the home looking spotless.

Previously, Carolina revealed the three filters hardly anyone remembers to clean in their home – and most people don’t even know about one.

She said that filters from appliances such as the dishwasher, washing machine and oven are often overlooked.

The mum-of-two said some should be cleaned as often as once a week to prevent a build up of dangerous bacteria.

Her followers were particularly grateful for her advice on cleaning the washing machine filter, which many admitted they didn’t even know existed.

‘Who’s been cleaning their filters? I know some of you have skipped a few, don’t lie,’ the mum asked on TikTok.

The washing machine filter is the most commonly forgotten of all three, despite the fact it should be drained and cleaned every three months.

The filter is generally located behind a door at the bottom of the machine, and a pipe needs to be unhooked to allow the build up of water to drain out.

‘It’s a bit awkward especially if you’ve never done it before,’ Carolina admitted.

How to clean three forgotten about filters in your home:

  • Washing machine filter – this filter is generally located behind a door at the bottom of the machine and needs to be drained and cleaned every three months
  • Dishwasher filter – these should be soaked with dishwasher tablets once a week as they attract a lot of bacteria
  • Range hood filters – these should also be soaked with dishwasher tablets

She also reminded her followers to regularly clean their dishwasher filters.

The mum said these should be soaked with dishwasher tablets once a week as they attract a lot of bacteria.

The final filters that need to be deep cleaned are range hood filters, which Carolina warned quickly get covered in a build up of ‘nasty grease’.

They should be degreased in the same way dishwasher filters are cleaned, by soaking them with dishwasher tablets.

Carolina’s followers were particularly grateful for her washing machine filter tip, several didn’t realise the filter existed.

‘I literally bee-lined for my washing machine after seeing this. It was nasty,’ one woman said.

‘Thanks to you I found and cleaned the washer drain. I had wondered why the clothes spin didn’t seem to be working quite as well, plus the slight musty odour that had started in the laundry room,’ another commented.
