Justin Theroux and Melissa George’s series, The Mosquito Coast, has been cancelled after just two seasons.
After a total of 17 episodes, the network left fans of the thriller devastated on Friday after announcing their decision not to renew the series, which is based on a novel of the same name by the 51-year-old actor’s uncle, Paul Theroux.
The show follows Theroux as Allie Fox, an idealistic American inventor who is on the run from the National Security Agency (NSA) after turning to ecoterrorism to advance his ideals.

In season two, he and wife Margot (George) escaped from Mexico and made it to a refuge in the Guatemalan jungle.
Unfortunately, their dreams of safety are squandered by drug cartels, who pose an even greater threat to their safety than the American authorities chasing them.
While speaking of his character in an interview with Vanity Fair last year, Theroux said: ‘We probably saw elements of this guy a lot during the pandemic, when everyone fled New York and wanted to buy a place upstate.’

The ex-husband of Jennifer Aniston went on to say: ‘The way his life has treated him makes him go, ‘That’s it, we’re striking out. We’re going to cross the border and throw a grenade over our shoulder, because America is done.”
The Mosquito Coast is a quasi-prequel to Peter Weir’s 1986 flop starring Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford, and River Phoenix.
