They have taken on the eponymous leading lady role in new drama Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

And Emma Corrin, 26, has described the sex scenes in the film as ‘really beautiful’ as they touched on the barrier-breaking nature of the flick, which shows a woman in control of her sexuality.

The Crown star, who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, also touched on the empowering nature of the film – explaining that it shows ‘it’s okay for women to want pleasure’.

The film is based on the 1928 novel by English author D. H. Lawrence, and is notorious for its explicit descriptions of sex, use of four-letter words, and depiction of a relationship between an upper-class woman and a working-class man.

The uncensored version was infamously banned in the UK at the time for it’s racy nature.

Emma, who plays Lady Constance ‘Connie’ Chatterley, acts alongside Jack O’Connell in the film, who portrays Oliver Mellors.

Speaking to People on the power the film gives to women, they explained: ‘A journey that I think a lot of women go on is finding that power in your sexuality, and also knowing that it’s okay to want pleasure and to strive for pleasure.

‘And for that to be a really powerful and beautiful thing and not something that you need to not acknowledge at all, or feel bad about, or shame over.’

Emma continued that the sex scenes are ‘a really beautiful thing’ and give power to the actors and audience.

‘I really loved the centring of female pleasure and sex in the story,’ they said to the The Times on the intimate scenes.

Last week, Emma took to Instagram to give fans a glimpse of the making of the Netflix film – posting a fun behind-the-scenes snap in a hairnet and robe on set.

And jesting on the racy nature of the film, captioning a snap: ‘Any children conceived after the watching of this film must be called Emma.’
