Heroic moment German shepherd ‘Tank’ protects South Florida boy from dog attack on his front lawn

A six-year-old Florida boy is rescued when his pet German shepherd rushes to protect him after the neighbor’s dog got loose and charged at the youngster.

The frightening incident happened on November 8 when the young boy was outside on his front lawn playing with his dog, Tank, at his South Florida home.

According to the boy’s father, the neighbor’s dog got loose and came running and charging toward his son. 

The family pet, Tank, a one-year-old German shepherd, sensed the little guy was in danger and jumped into action to protect his best friend.

In a video, Tank’s guarding instinct kicks into overdrive as he pushes the boy out of harm’s way and then stands over the boy to protect him before confronting the other canine.

The little boy runs towards his mother in tears as the father rushes onto the scene to break up the doggie scuffle. After both of the dogs bark, growl and charge at one another, the neighbor’s dog finally runs home.

The boy’s father posted the video showing what a ‘good boy’ Tank is. He also shares that their second dog, a blue nose pitbull, was also on hand running out of their garage for backup but he said ‘Tank had it under control.’

‘Our son was fine and the other dog was taken back home by his owner,’ the father said. 

Since the video went viral, many dog lovers, applauded Tank for his heroics.

 ‘Get that German Shepherd a big dog bone, steak or anything, he wants he deserves a treat. Good boy!!!!,’ one person wrote.

Another person added:  ‘That’s one awesome dog! Thank goodness the child wasn’t hurt, terrifying moment for that mother! If you can’t control your dog, keep them on leash people!’
