Pub workers reveal the most annoying things customers say to them every day

Pub staff have revealed the most annoying things they’ve heard from customers on the job, ranging from unwanted sexual advances to comments on their career choices.

Three women working at The Prairie in Burnley, Lancashire, compiled a selection of the worst offenders in a jokey TikTok from the venue’s account.

The humorous clip – which has had more than 6,500 views – highlighted the often patronising and sometimes leery tone used with servers.

Singing along to Alexis Jordan’s Happiness, as part of the social media trend which sees people sharing the weirdest things they’ve been told, the trio danced along while outlining their experience.

The comments shared were mostly flirtatious but included quips such as being told they’ve ‘worked here a while’.

Other suggestive phrases hinted the customers would go for them ‘if they were 20 years younger’ and suggestions that they’d ‘make beautiful children’.

Another had asked if the employees ‘came as a side order’.

The Prairie describes itself as a ‘friendly bunch’ which prides itself ‘on giving the warmest of welcomes’ on the company’s website, and has largely positive reviews on social media.

The pub’s TikTok account appears to be run by the three women in the video, who make funny posts about working at the establishment, including clips about ‘when your manager says you can go home early’ and ‘when it’s last orders’.

Stars such as Hailey Bieber, Judd Apatow, Leslie Mann and Kylie Jenner have over the years been publicly criticised for their poor treatment of staff at bars and restaurants.

And Monday saw James Corden join the list after he was lambasted online by the owner of NYC restaurant Balthazar, Keith McNally, for being the ‘most abusive customer’ ever.

The restaurateur shamed the Late Late Show host over two incidents – one in June and another in October – in which he yelled ‘like crazy’ at staff over an omelet and fries – and demanded free drinks ‘this second’.

‘James Corden is a hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago,’ McNally wrote in his scandalous Instagram post yesterday.

Corden, who is paid $36 million-a-year for his Late Late Show on CBS, was forced to apologize after the restaurateur’s post immediately went viral. 

Hours later, McNally posted an update and revealed that Corden had phoned to apologize ‘profusely’, and that he was no longer banned from the restaurant.

‘Anyone magnanimous enough to apologise to a deadbeat lay about like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere. Especially Balthazar….all is forgiven,’ he said. 

The scandal is just the latest headline-making moment in which a famous name has been exposed for their less than impressive behavior while out in restaurants and bars.

Just days after Julia’s viral TikTok video was posted, Hailey shared an apology and wrote in the comments: ‘Just came across this video, and wanted to say so sorry if I’ve ever given you bad vibes or a bad attitude. That’s not ever my intention.

‘Hate hearing that was your experience with me but glad u called me out so I can do better!! Hopefully we meet again so I can apologize in person.’
