Seinfeld star Philip Baker Hall has passed away at age 90, surrounded by ‘surrounded by loved ones,’ according to his friend and writer Sam Farmer.

The Boogie Nights actor’s death on Saturday evening was announced by the sportswriter over Twitter the following day. 

‘My neighbor, friend, and one of the wisest, most talented and kindest people I’ve ever met, Philip Baker Hall, died peacefully last night,’ Farmer shared on Twitter. 

He continued: ‘He was surrounded by loved ones. The world has an empty space in it.’ 

Hall had an acting career spanning more than four decades and appeared in more than 200 guest roles on television.

Hall notably starred in the 1996 crime thriller Hard Eight, alongside John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson and Gwyneth Paltrow as prostitute Clementine.

Hall then had roles in Anderson’s later films Boogie Nights and Magnolia.

The Ohio native also portrayed Lt. Joe Bookman, the ‘library cop’, on Seinfeld.

His other film credits include Midnight Run, The Truman Show, Bruce Almighty and Dogville.
