Wyong woman allegedly kidnapped before fleeing as police find body at Levitt Street unit

A couple have been arrested and charged after a dead man was found in their apartment and a woman fled their unit after allegedly being held captive. 

The 44-year-old woman had allegedly been held captive at an apartment on Levitt Street at Wyong, on NSW‘s Central Coast, since Thursday.

She managed to flee the unit before getting a neighbour to contact police, who rushed to the scene on Saturday.

The alleged victim told police she was worried for a 52-year-old man being held in an adjacent room with officers confirming her worst fears after finding his dead body.

A 30-year-old man was arrested at the unit and a 33-year-old woman was cuffed at a house on Charmain Street at Watanobbi. 

NSW Police revealed on Sunday all four people knew each other and that the allegedly kidnapped woman had initially visited the unit at her own free will. 

The dead man had been living in the same complex where his body was found. 

Officers set up a crime scene and detectives have launched an investigation into the incident.

The 44-year-old woman was taken to Gosford Hospital to be treated for multiple injuries including burns.

The arrested couple were taken to Wyong Police Station where they were charged.

The woman was charged with conceal a serious offence and the pair will front Wyong Local Court on Monday.

One former resident who used to live on the street said the area was known to be a hotspot for drugs.

‘I used to live across from those units the police were always there something needs to be done about those units unfortunately it is filled with a lot of drugs,’ she said.
