Women’s Aid shares a statement after Seann Walsh discussed cheating on IAC

Women’s Aid has posted a statement about I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! – after Seann Walsh discussed cheating on his ex-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries.

The charity penned a Tweet asking ITV to ‘consider in their edit not platforming alleged abusers minimising their actions on screen’.

It comes after Seann found himself at the centre of a media firestorm when he was photographed kissing Strictly partner Katya Jones while she was married to Neil Jones and he was in a relationship with now ex-girlfriend Rebecca.

Following the incident, Seann’s actress girlfriend Rebecca released an impassioned statement in which she revealed he called her ‘psycho’ and ‘nuts’ for questioning his friendship with Katya, who he kissed on Rebecca’s birthday. They soon broke up. 

He discussed the scandal on Thursday night’s episode, saying it was the ‘worst moment of his life’.

Women’s Aid have now penned: ‘Imagine experiencing gaslighting by a partner, undergoing therapy, and then watching that person garner sympathy on national TV? 

‘We ask @ITV @imacelebrity to consider in their edit not platforming alleged abusers minimising their actions on screen. Solidarity with survivors.’ 

Women’s Aid, ITV and Seann have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

It comes after Seann discussed his Strictly kissing scandal on Thursday’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, calling it the ‘worst moment of my life’.

Chatting to his fellow campmate Sue Cleaver, Seann said: ‘Me and my dance partner, who was married, I was in a relationship, we were photographed kissing when we were on Strictly Come Dancing… that was the front page of every newspaper.’

Sue asked: ‘Why did that crucify you? Why did that have such an impact?’

Seann said: ‘To be totally honest with you, my poor ex, my girlfriend at the time, posted a statement. My girlfriend [at the time] posted a statement and that was the end of me.’

Seann then added: ‘I said sorry. I sat on Jonathan Ross’s TV show and apologised. I sat next to will.i.am and Samuel L. Jackson and apologised.

‘That will forever be the weirdest moment of my life and I have to say probably the worst moment of my life.’

Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Sue expressed sympathy for Seann and said he was ‘brave’ to put himself back into the spotlight with I’m A Celebrity.

She said: ‘He’s a lovely lad. He’s a sensitive soul, very sensitive soul. He’s been through the ringer the last three years. I think he’s really brave and I’m glad he’s here.’

In the Bush Telegraph, Seann said: ‘That’s something in my life that I don’t want to go back to. Obviously I knew it would come up. They come up so naturally here.

‘I just want to move on. It’s really nice to have people that will listen and are so lovely and wonderful. 

‘I just want to be clear in that I’m very sorry about what happened and I really want this to be a positive experience and it really has been. I want to come out of here and move forward.’

While he was taking part on the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing, Seann kissed his professional dance partner Katya Jones outside a pub.

Seann was in a relationship with then girlfriend Rebecca at the time, while Katya was married to fellow Strictly professional Neil.

Despite the controversy, Seann and Katya carried on with the show and were ultimately eliminated in the fifth week.
