Woman, 22, is raped and disfigured after being held captive for six months in California home after moving in with roommate: Man, 59, is arrested

A man accused of raping and disfiguring a woman he held captive in his California home for six months has pleaded not guilty to 10 charges, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Peter McGuire, 59, of Chino Hills, is accused of ‘putting out’ one of the victim’s eyes as well as ‘disabling’ her tongue and slitting her nose, ear and lip. 

The victim, 22, moved into McGuire’s home but when she decided to move out he refused to let her leave and kept her against her will, according to the LA Times.

The woman phoned police after escaping from the residence last Thursday night.

She was found in a nearby park and rushed to hospital where she remains in a stable condition. 

McGuire was arrested at 8.30am on Friday after he fled to another property in Placenta, Orange County, and barricaded himself inside. 

McGuire is due back in court on Thursday.

He entered pleas Monday to charges including kidnapping, mayhem and sodomy by use of force, the San Bernardino County district attorney’s office said in a statement.

Five of the counts include special allegations that the crimes involved infliction of great bodily injury and administering a controlled substance during a sex crime, prosecutors said.

The victim told investigators she had been tortured, physically assaulted and raped, sheriff´s officials said.

‘The victim had visible injuries consistent with the allegations made,’ a Sheriff’s Department statement said.

A search warrant was served at the home and evidence was recovered, but the suspect was not there.

He was located Saturday morning at a home in Placentia, in neighboring Orange County, and surrendered after an hours-long standoff with SWAT officers, according to officials.
