The housekeeper who found Aaron Carter dead in his bathtub was a homeless woman Aaron and his fiancée took in, it has been revealed.

Sources told TMZ over the weekend how the 34-year-old singer-songwriter and his fiancée, Melanie Miller, hired a homeless woman to watch over their $800,000 mansion at the behest of a friend, after it was broken into while they were away.

She had only been living at the house for about three weeks when she found Carter unresponsive in his bathtub on November 5 and called 911.

The mysterious housekeeper, who has still not been named, is said to have then refused help from medically-trained neighbors who had a defibrillator, and was pictured apparently in different clothes than she had been wearing when she first answered the door for sheriff’s deputies.

It remains unclear what will happen to the woman in the aftermath of Carter’s death.

Sources familiar with Carter and Miller’s personal life told TMZ how they had traveled to Orange County last month to spend a few nights with their young son, Prince, who is in the care of Miller’s mother as neither parent has custody.

While there, sources said, they were told of a possible break-in at their Lancaster home, after the front door was left open and cigarette butts were found at the scene.

After they returned home, it is said, a friend urged them to get a house-sitter for whenever they left the home again.

The friend apparently had a woman in mind for the job — a homeless woman from his church.

Carter and Miller later met with the woman, the unnamed sources revealed, and felt she was a good fit for the job — so they brokered a deal in which they would let her sty at the house for free in exchange for keeping an eye on the place and doing odd jobs on the property.

The deal seemed to have paid off when the housekeeper found Carter unresponsive in his bathtub and called 911 on November 5.

Authorities later pronounced him dead on the scene.

Investigators say he drowned.

But the housekeeper is said to have refused medically-trained help inside the $800,000 California home before authorities arrived on the scene.

Neighbors Anthony and Amanda Cheval have previously revealed exclusively to DailyMail.com how they rushed over to the house that morning after hearing a 911 call on their police scanner.

Amanda, a registered nurse, grabbed their automated external defibrillator bag and ran across the street from their home in a bid to save him.

‘I heard them call out a 927D – code for a possible dead body – for Aaron Carter’s address.’ Anthony, 45, a corporate safety manager who teaches CPR and also works for a local news agency, told DailyMail.com.

‘I knocked on the door several times,’ he said. ‘Finally after a few minutes a black female answered the door.’

Cheval said the woman was hysterical and was foaming at both sides of her mouth. He asked her if she needed any help.

‘But the house sitter was screaming: “He’s gone, he’s dead, he’s gone.”

‘She kept screaming that over and over.’

Cheval said he asked her again to let them in. ‘Let us help you, let us try. My wife is a registered nurse, let her help.’

But the house sitter refused to allow them to enter, screaming out to them, ‘I can’t let you in.’

‘She locked the front door, and I could hear her running away from the door.’

Just a few minutes later, Cheval said, LA County Sheriff deputies arrived on the scene, and Amanda Cheval, 30, explained to cops how the woman who answered the door refused to let them in.

At that point, Cheval said, deputies started banging on the door yelling they were from the sheriff’s department.

After a few minutes, he said, the same woman answered the door but didn’t open it up all of the way — pushing her body up against the door.

‘But the sheriff’s deputies pushed past her and ran inside the house.’

‘Minutes later they exited the house, but not with the same urgent demeanor they had going in.

‘At that point I thought whoever it was inside there is dead.

Then minutes later the local ambulance company arrived at the scene and quickly took out their stretcher and wheeled it to the front door.

They left the house just moments later with an empty stretcher.

Cheval said it wasn’t until Miller arrived at the house sobbing when he realized it was Aaron Carter inside.

Cheval added that when the house sitter answered the door and when he saw her out in the front yard with sheriff’s deputies, she was wearing white pants and a black long sleeve top.

But when she finally left Carter’s house with police later in the afternoon, sheriff’s deputies were carrying a roller luggage bag and she had changed into red tights and wore a red printed dress with a dark vest.

After she left a sheriff’s deputy carried out a brown paper evidence bag. He’s not sure if her original clothes were in the brown paper bag or if it was something else.

Cheval moved into his house across the street from Carter in August. He only had one conversation with him when Carter welcomed him to the neighborhood.

But he said he’s heard and witnessed a year’s worth of chaos in those three months.

‘It’s a great neighborhood we live in, but he was a terrible neighbor.’ Cheval said he personally didn’t have any issues with Carter, but says he was the probably only one who didn’t.

He said that in the three months that he has been Carter’s neighbor, he’s witnessed him in verbal altercations with various neighbors and having constant fights with Melanie. ‘Not too long ago the police came out for a burglary call, and it turned out he was fighting with Melanie,’ Cheval recounted.

‘The local police are all too familiar with Carter’s address,’ he added, claiming police have been out to Carter’s house at least three times since August.

‘From what I’ve seen he was his own worst enemy and brought a lot of these problems on himself.’

He said the entire neighborhood is sad that Carter died, but ‘on the other hand some neighbors have said they are glad he is no longer around.’

Cheval said he only had one conversation with his famous neighbor. He said it was brief and Carter welcomed him to the area.

But Cheval said most of the neighbors did not have pleasant interactions with him.

One video he shared with DailyMail.com shows Carter and another neighbor in a screaming match. That was taken on October 14.

Other neighbors told how there was always commotion coming from the house with Aaron and Miller arguing all hours of the day.

On several occasions, they said, Aaron locked Melanie outside of his house, after a screaming match and she would bang on the door, screaming ‘let me in.’

When Aaron wasn’t fighting with Melanie he would torment his neighbors by blasting his music and opening up his windows. ‘You could hear the music from several houses away.’

One neighbor politely knocked on his door one day and Melanie answered. She was asked if they could turn down the music. Melanie said she would pass along the information to Aaron. Minutes later Aaron banged on the neighbor’s door and began yelling at the neighbor, he called her a ‘c**t and a b***ch.

Another person at the house told Aaron to leave their property. The police were called and Aaron tried to tell the police that the neighbor assaulted him.

No arrests were made.

He also got into a fight with an older neighbor one day, yelling at him, calling him an ‘old man and to suck his d**k.’

Aaron had a Dalmatian dog that he would hit and yell at constantly. Then one day the dog was gone.

‘Every neighbor has that neighbor you have to deal with, he was that neighbor.

‘I feel bad he left behind his young child. He obviously had his issues and demons. It’s a shame that he died, I wouldn’t wish that on anytime, but I’m glad he’s no longer in our neighborhood.’

Just one week before his death, Carter tweeted that he was selling his home for $800,000, and noting he was looking to begin a ‘new chapter.’

‘Selling my 2nd home,’ Carter wrote on October 29. ‘Real estate has been super good to me. Ready for a new chapter in my 3rd home which I plan on staying to make a beautiful life for my family.’

‘This year has been super tough but I’ve learned so much,’ he added. ‘Thanks for the support everyone.’

He had been trying to sell the seven-bedroom, four-bath home for months, taking it briefly off the market in the summer before listing it again for $829,900 in September, records show.

He then reduced the price on October 24 to $799,900.

It was again taken off the market following his death.

After Aaron’s death Nick wrote on Instagram: ‘I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.

‘Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.’

In recent years, he has been in an on-again, off-again relationship with Miller.

But in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com in August, Carter confirmed that the two were no longer in a relationship and had ended their romance for good.

He had filed for custody of their son and a petition for protection against Miller at the Antelope Valley Courthouse in Los Angeles County earlier this year.

In a court filing he accused his ex of ’emotional distress, anguish, shoving, & scratching’, and claimed she used the threat of suicide to abuse him ’emotionally.’

However, Martin was visibly upset outside Carter’s house following his death, and released a statement calling him her ‘fiancé.’

‘My fiancé Aaron Carter has passed away. I love Aaron with all my heart and it’s going to be a journey to raise a son without a father. Please respect the privacy of my family as we come to terms with the loss of someone we love greatly. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.’
