The average cost of renting a property in Britain has soared to £1,204 a month for the first time on record.
In some places, that amount of money will enable you to rent a four-bedroom detached house, but in others, it may only stretch to a room in a flat share.
The one thing that has remained constant, however, is the rise in average rents, which are up 7.1 per cent on a year ago.
Tenants are now forking out an extra £960 a year in rent compared to this time in 2021, according to Hamptons estate agents.
We take a look at eight homes in Britain that are available to rent for around £1,200 a month – including this studio (pictured) – scroll down for more details
Daniel Copley, of property website Zoopla, said: ‘The rental market is increasingly competitive, and prices have surged.
‘Private landlords selling off their homes due to tax and regulatory changes is putting further pressure on the market and we expect demand to continue to outstrip supply and keep pressure on rents into 2023.
‘There are however signs that the pace of price growth is peaking and set to slow into next year as renters seek smaller, better value for money homes to rent.’
So what does an average amount of rental cash buy tenants looking for a new home around the country?
We take a look at what you can rent for around £1,200 a month in different parts of Britain.
