‘Elegance expert’ names the five nail designs making you look ‘tacky: ‘Neon green and hot pink scream cheap’
- Elegance expert lists the nail designs ‘elegant ladies’ should avoid
- Nail art, glitter, and thick French manicures didn’t make the cutÂ
- Neither did long acrylic nails and bright ‘artificial’ colours Â
AÂ self-proclaimed elegance expert has shared the five nail designs to never choose if you don’t want to look ‘tacky’ and ‘cheap’.
Antonia Higham says ‘elegant ladies’ should always avoid thick French manicures and bright colours as well as nail art, glitter and long acrylic nails.Â
Instead opt for thin French manicures, red nail polish, neutral tones, or short to medium length acrylic nails.
But the nail suggestions struck a cord with some who said her elegant nail suggestions ‘weren’t unique or fun’.Â
The London TikToker is known for sharing videos about her life and how to boost your style if you want to look elegant.Â

In a TikTok now seen by thousands, Antonia shared examples of the styles she believes are the complete opposite of elegance.Â
While she opts for thin French manicures, the thicker version is a big no-no.Â
Bright ‘artificial’ colours, such as neon green or hot pink, also scream ‘cheap’ and ‘tacky’, according to Antonia.Â
Nail art looks cute and dainty, but the expert claims it doesn’t appear elegant enough – and neither does glitter or long acrylics.Â
The handy recommendations resonated with thousands and some shared their go-to nail designs.
‘There is only one I will ever do. A thin French line. Very classy, tasteful and elegant. The others no way!!’ one woman wrote.Â
‘Thin French or a light, neutral colour. Sometimes in the fall I will splurge to a light brown,’ another said.Â
But others strongly disagreed and said the design recommendations are ‘boring’.Â
‘So elegant ladies are basically old and boring,’ one wrote.Â
Another added: ‘So nothing fun or unique ever got it.’
It comes as research by SpaSeekers revealed chrome nails were the most searched nail design of 2022.Â
A combination of Google and TikTok data revealed searches for the nail design increased by 306 per cent last year.Â
The second most searched style was gingerbread nails followed by red French tips.
