A Welsh football fan has been dubbed ‘the face of the anthem’ after she gave a rousing rendition of the country’s national song ahead of the Wales vs USA match on Tuesday.Â
Dwynwen Morgan, a radio producer from Gwynedd, was shown during ITV footage of the game in the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, belting out Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, the official national anthem of Wales, with tears in her eyes.
Fans watching at home quickly took to social media to comment on her commitment to her team, with one saying she was ‘amazing’ and another adding: ‘This is how it feels to be Welsh when you anthem is playing.’Â
BBCÂ football host Gary Lineker said watching the crimson-shirted sea of fans – known as ‘the Red Wall’ – get behind the Welsh team had given him ‘goosebumps’.Â

BBC sport host Gary Lineker said the Welsh fans’ – known as the Red Wall – rendition of their national anthem gave him ‘goosebumps’. Morgan said the tournament was special because she was on honeymoon with her husband Dylan, after the couple met at the Euros in 2016

And it didn’t take long for Morgan to realise that she had gone viral after friends alerted her to her moment in the spotlight.Â
She told WalesOnline: ‘I felt a few pings in my pocket during the match but was a bit shocked by the number of notifications and especially their locations.Â
‘This means so much to every one of [the fans] so mine weren’t the only tears in the stadium.’
The radio producer said the trip was part of her honeymoon, after she got together with her husband, Dylan Llewelyn, while watching their team at the Euros in France in 2016.
The couple have since travelled to follow the Dragons in countries including the USA, Serbia, and Azerbaijan.
Despite being cheered on by the vociferous army of travelling fans in Qatar, the Welsh fell behind against the Yanks after a first half dominated by the team from across the Atlantic.
Welsh talisman Gareth Bale didn’t shy away from the pressure, scoring an equaliser via a penalty
A goal by winger Timothy Weah in the 36th minute after he was put clear by Chelsea star Christian Pulisic separates the sides at half-time, and gives Wales a hill to climb in the second half.
Back in Wales, fans watching the game on big screens in places such as Cardiff and Swansea held their heads in their hands as their team conceded, while there was jubilation among US supporters.Â
But the Dragons roared back in the second half, and drew level through their captain and talisman Gareth Bale after he dispatched a penalty in the 82nd minute.
There were scenes of mayhem in the Welsh supporters section at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan as their team set up a nail-biting finale.
The full throttle match kept going right to the final whistle, but no side was able to find the breakthrough in the closing stages, meaning they had to share the spoils.
It leaves both teams on one point in Group B and with ground to make up on England, who thrashed Iran 6-2 earlier today to take control of the group.

Thousands of Wales fans have travelled to the Middle East to show their support for the team managed by Rob Page and led by talismanic captain Gareth Bale, while the US will be hoping to make up for failing to qualify for the last tournament in Russia in 2018.
The Welsh fans will be hoping their team can perform a repeat of their Euro 2016 heroics, where they surprised many to make it to the semi-finals of the tournament.
The team is being captained by Gareth Bale, who donned an armband with the words ‘No Discrimination’ on it.Â
England captain Harry Kane also wore the FIFA-approved armband after speculation the pair and other captains would wear armbands with the words ‘One Love’, seen as a rebuke of Qatar’s human rights record and its treatment of the LGBT+ community.Â
