A reckless ute driver repeatedly chased a man down a sleepy street before circling back and mowing him down in a hotel car park in a savage late night attack.

Chaotic footage of the incident posted to Reddit showed a white ute driving erratically while targeting the man on foot, narrowly missing him at first attempt.

The vehicle drives the wrong way up a dual carriageway to circle back for another run at the victim before following him into a hotel car park and slamming into him.

The ute then desperately tries to flee the scene as a police car suddenly arrives, with the ute zigzagging across the dual carriageway before disappearing up the wrong side of the road.

The video shows the ute driver initially driving towards a group of four men, who are throwing objects at his vehicle and shouting.

‘Call the police, now!’ a voice can be heard saying in the audio on the clip.

The driver retreats to a vacant lot beside the hotel, before accelerating at them again and knocking down a man who is wearing only shorts and a singlet.

Minibus driver Aashish told Daily Mail Australia he had just returned to the hotel from the airport with recently arrived tourists when he was confronted by the wild scenes.

He said he had to think quickly to protect his terrified travellers.

‘I was on reception and got a call to pick up some guests from the airport,’ he said.

‘When I came back these guys, all aged about 15 to 20, were riding and fighting in the street.

‘I had to keep driving past the front gate and wait at the petrol station.’

He added: ‘I was so panicked, but I had to keep myself and the guests safe.

‘It’s just really sad to see this happening.’

In the clip, the man knocked down miraculously gets up off the ground and staggers away just as police arrive.

A voice can be heard on the clip yelling out, ‘F***ing dog. Got ‘im.’

The driver then flees the scene by crashing through the hotel garden and fence, as the police vehicle arrives with sirens flashing and takes off in pursuit of the driver.

Aashish confirmed nobody was seriously hurt and said police spent four hours at the hotel investigating the incident.

NT police confirmed they were aware of the incident but could make no comment.
