‘I am healing emotional bruises’: Valerie Bertinelli, 62, says she used to be ‘mercilessly mocked’ over sound her pants made as she walked but now she just doesn’t care
Valerie Bertinelli got emotional in a video she shared to one of her social media pages on Sunday.
The One Day At A Time actress, 62, talked about how she used to be ‘mercilessly mocked’ for the sound her pants made as her thighs rubbed together while she walked.
‘I’m giggling because I had a small hidden bruise that was activated today. You can probably hear them because my pants are rubbing together and it makes this particular sound,’ she said as she walked down the street.
‘I stopped wearing them because I was…mercilessly mocked, you know, “I’m too lazy to do anything about it. They wouldn’t rub together if you…”‘ she continued.
The Hot In Cleveland star – who revealed she lost 10lbs thanks to dry January – explained that ‘hidden bruises are something that emotional, verbal, mental abuse do to you.’

She did not name the person who mocked her and she did not show fans what the pants looked like.
‘People can’t see them but we’ve got to deal with them everyday when they’re activated. I’m so grateful the work that I’m doing on healing, is working,’ she excitedly admitted.
The Kids Baking Championship star admitted that the mocking she received led her to ‘put these pants away forever’ after trying to change the way she walked in them to eliminate the sound they made.
And now, that is all behind her and she feels free to wear the infamous pants once again.
‘Hear that sound? That’s the sound of freedom to me,’ she said as she smiled.
And then, the Touched By An Angel star shared an inspirational message telling fans they are all part of her tribe. ‘Now I hesitate to post this because so many people who will say “God, let go of it. Move on.”
‘This is called moving on,’ she continued. ‘This is called healing.
‘And to all of you that can identify with this and feel seen, welcome. I’m just another part of your tribe,’ she concluded.

Recently, the Sydney star revealed another personal victory – she lost 10lbs thanks to dry January.
‘These jeans that I’m wearing were so tight a few months ago that I couldn’t comfortably button them,’ the Food Network star revealed. ‘Now, they’re so loose it’s time for me to go down a size.’
And the weight loss is just one benefit to going alcohol free for the mom of Wolfgang Van Halen.
‘I want to calm down the cortisol in my body that has been raging for the last five, six years,’ she said.
‘I’ve been in fight, flight, freeze, fawn mode. And I want to go into rest and digest,’ she said. ‘I think cutting alcohol will help me do that.’
