  • Gomez has been critical of the local police’s late response in getting into the Robb Elememtary school to stop the rampage that left 21 dead
  • She said she got a call from law enforcement saying she could face a probabtion violation for obstruction of justice if she keeps talking with the media

An Uvalde mom who was handcuffed by police for trying to rush into the Robb Elemembtary School to save her two kids says from the deadly shooting said police have threatened her with a probabtion violation for obstruction of justice if she continued speaking with the media condeming the officer’s late response.

Angeli Rose Gomez, who has two children in second and third grade at the school, is among the most vocal of critics against the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) Police Department, who handcuffed her and held other parents back when they tried entering the school during the shooting to try and save their kids.

After sharing her story with news outlets, Gomez claimed she recieved a call from law enforcement warning her that if she keeps speaking to the media, she might face legal troubles for a probabtion that she has from charges filed more than a decade ago, CBS reported.

Despite the warning, Gomez said she was encouraged to continue sharing her story by the judge overseeing her probation, who reportedly told the mom that her bravery would be rewarded and assured her that her probabtion would not be affected.

It comes as CISD Police Chief Pete Arredondo continues to face backlash for failing to send in a tactial team fast enough to end the 18-year-old gunman, Salvador Rolando Ramos, rampage that killed 19 students and their two teachers.

Gomez has criticized the police’s slow response and thier action in handcuffing her and restraining other parents who tried to rush into the school to rescue the kids as they grew frustrated over the inaction.

‘I told one of the officers, I don’t need you to protect me,’ Gomez said of the cops who kept her back, saying it was for her own safety.

‘Get away from me. I don’t need your protection. If anything, I need you to go in there with me and protect my kids.’

Gomez had raced to the school district after learning about the shooting in a desperate attempt to rescue her children.

Once she arrived at the scene, she a U.S. Marshall immediately confronted her and told her to move her car and stay away from the school.

‘He said, ‘Well, we’re going to have to arrest you because you’re being very uncooperative,” Gomez told CBS. ‘I said, well you’re going to have to arrest me because I’m going in there.’

‘I’m telling you, I don’t see any of y’all in there. Y’all are standing with snipers and far away. If y’all aren’t going in their, I’m going in there.’

Gomez said she was able to convince a Uvalde officer whom she knew to have the marshal free her and she took the opportunity to move away from the crowd, jump the school fence, and ran inside the school where she rescued her children herself.

She said that other parents also trying to get to their kids were tackled and even pepper-sprayed by police.

This is a developing story.
