Meghan Markle claims she quit her short stint as a briefcase girl on Deal or No Deal in 2006 because she didn’t like being ‘objectified’ as a bimbo.
Primped and preened, she took exception to being told to ‘suck in her stomach,’ while she was reduced to a confection of fake lashes, hair extensions and padded bra, she claims.
But now, the Duchess of Sussex stands accused of hypocrisy, as newly resurfaced footage, seen here on DailyMail.com, shows she had no trouble playing the bimbo once more when she dived into a part in 90210, a full two years after her supposedly seminal moment.
In blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo on the Beverly Hills 90210 reboot’s series premiere, Markle, then 27, is seen playing Wendy.
Meghan said she quite Deal or No Deal because she disliked ‘how it made me feel, which was not smart’ . She said: ‘I didn’t like feeling forced to be all looks’
Meghan (circled on the show in the back row ) had very differing opinions about the way in which briefcase girls were treated to her former co-star Claudia (circled in front)
In the scene, hunky Ethan – played by Dustin Milligan – is surprised when his girlfriend Annie (Shenae Grimes) spots him sitting in his car.
His shock is soon explained when he adjusts his clothing and Wendy’s head emerges from his lap.
Speaking on the most recent episode of her podcast, Archetypes, Markle was in conversation with original small-screen airhead, Paris Hilton when she made her claim about leaving the Howie Mandel-helmed Deal.
‘I ended up quitting because I was so much more than what was being objectified on the stage,’ she told Hilton, 41.
‘I didn’t like feeling forced to be all looks. And little substance.
‘And that’s how it felt for me at the time being reduced to this specific archetype, the word bimbo.’
In the podcast episode – called Breaking Down the Bimbo – Meghan, 41, said she wants her daughter Lilibet to be valued first for her mind, rather than ‘beauty not brains’ as she was on the TV gameshow.
The Duchess, who appeared in Deal or No Deal between 2006 and 2007, calling it ‘a short stint’ to pay the bills, added: ‘I want our daughter to aspire to be slightly higher. Yeah, I want my Lili to want to be educated and want to be smart and to pride herself on those things.’
But despite the duchess’s protestations, beady-eyed fans have pointed out that Markle was quick to embrace the bimbo role just two years later.
One online critic posting as LaNiceGata summed it up, ‘She must have forgotten she was BJ girl in that show AFTER she left her briefcase girls stint due to being objectified.’

Saving face: With her raven tresses obscuring her face, Wendy sheepishly peers out
Cut short: Wearing a blue off-shoulder top, Meghan’s character soon realizes the jig is up
Annie Wilson, played by Shanae Grimes, is horrified by the scene that plays out before her in Ethan’s car
Bluesy tweeted about the 90210 appearance: ‘No one forced you. No one reduced you. You willingly took those jobs.’
And Terri added: ‘What was going through her mind when she read for that role? Was that going to be her breakout starring role?
Markle was reportedly ‘hesitant’ to take on the role of the clueless temptress in the off-the-shoulder blue top and gold hoop earrings but, despite claiming to put her foot down two years earlier.
But she took the view that, ‘struggling actresses can’t be picky’, according to the Finding Freedom, a biography of Harry and Meghan, that was written with the cooperation of the duchess.
Wendy Stanzler, 60, who directed the episode that aired on September 2 2008, admitted she barely remembered Markle in the minor role but told DailyMail.com, ‘We had a lot of great young actors in that show who went on to get breaks and she was among them.’
Milligan, 37, declined to comment when DailyMail.com reached out to him.
On her podcast, Markle compared her gameshow role with another high-profile job she had had.
‘There were times when I was on set at Deal or No Deal and thinking back to my time working as an intern at the US Embassy in Argentina, Buenos Aires, and being in the motorcade with the secretary of treasury at the time and being valued specifically for my brain,’ she said.

Meghan Markle opened up on being a Deal or No Deal briefcase girl and revealed she quit, claiming she felt ‘objectified’ and like a ‘bimbo’
Meghan and Claudia both appeared as briefcase models on Deal or No Deal, but Claudia lasted longer staying for four seasons while Meghan only made 34 episodes
Actor Dustin Milligan declined to comment when asked by DailyMail.com about the scene
Markle’s comments have also brought pushback from her former ‘Deal or No Deal’ co-star, Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, Claudia Jordan who posted a furious rant on Instagram.
Markle claimed that that during her 34-episode stint between 2006 and 2007 she was made to feel ‘not smart’ because it was all about ‘looks’.
‘We were even given spray-tan vouchers each week because there was a very cookie cutter idea, of precisely what we should look like. It was solely about our beauty,’ Markle said.
Meghan added that a woman ‘in charge’ of the show would tell her to ‘suck it in’ before filming began, presumably an order to suck in her stomach on camera.
Not so, according to Jordan, 49, who stated that inclusion on the NBC game show was dependent on having ‘the most outgoing and fun personality’ and that executives chose models they knew would ‘engage with the contestants.’
The duchess claimed that the briefcase girls had to go to beauty stations, including one for padding her bra and there were spray tan vouchers. She said that she wants her own daughter Lilibet to be valued for her brain rather than her beauty
Meghan and Prince Harry have signed a three-year podcast deal with Spotify for an estimated $15million to $18million
Claudia insisted on Instagram that producers worked to highlight the models with the ‘most outgoing and fun personalities’, adding that she never felt like a ‘bimbo’ while on the show
Although Claudia insisted that she wasn’t trying to ‘attack’ Meghan, the Real Housewives star noted that Deal or No Deal gave people opportunities if they ‘seized their moments’
Jordan, who appeared on Deal or No Deal for four seasons from 2005 to 2009, slammed Meghan for her comments, explaining that the show ‘never treated them like bimbos’ and it helped provide ‘so many opportunities’ for them.
‘For clarity – yes getting a modeling gig on a game show isn’t necessarily about your intellect, but every show the executive producers picked five models with the most outgoing and fun personalities to place mics on, who they knew would engage with the contestants,’ she wrote in a post on her Instagram.
Meghan’s Spotify podcast has returned after a brief pause following the death of Prince Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth
‘And Deal or No Deal never treated us like bimbos. We got so many opportunities because of that show.’
The reality star added that it’s the ‘kind of opportunity’ that ‘is what you make it’. She added: ‘If you just show up and don’t engage – then you’ll just get your check and not get much out of it.
‘But if you show up and seize your moments, there’s no limits to what you can do with the opportunity.’
Claudia explained that she ‘enjoyed’ working on Deal or No Deal, and claimed it helped launch a major career for her.
‘It was a step on the ladder I’ve been ascending on for 25 years that paid all my bills, put me in front of 13 million people a night, and led to me getting on Celebrity Apprentice, Celebrity Apprentice All Stars, a breast cancer awareness campaign, guest hosting Extra, getting into People magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful issue, and so much more,’ she continued.
‘It also led to me co-hosting the 2009 Miss Universe pageant with @BillyBush in front of half a billion people. Not to shabby for a “bimbo”.’
While the 49-year-old wanted her followers to know that she was not ‘attacking’ Meghan, she said it was important for her to defend the show, and all of the people who worked so hard to make it a success.
‘Lord knows I’ve been defending this woman in the media for years,’ she explained. ‘And I still will, but I just didn’t want any misunderstanding about the climate and environment on the Deal or no Deal set.
‘And I’m especially protective of Howie Mandel, who was nothing but kind and respectful to all 26 of us.’
